Thinking of you in these hard times for you. I have found during my darkest year recently - when I finally reached out for help - I was and am bowled over by those that came forward and a whole new world opened up to me - just learning to receive it.

Draw from the strength offered here and I hope your son returns home very soon.

    A nice post, Sarge.

I totally agree with you with this place having some of the most awesome people ever to live. You get support here, even when you're at your lowest.
I'm proud to say that I've made some good friends here and continue to do so.

We're here for you, Sarge, even us Arrogant W@nker Wellys !!!

A little insight to the "background buzz"

The number of people wanting to get out there and search was impressive - I had someone contact me from Chch... take a few days off and fly up tohelp..

Those are the actions of genuine people

I had insights into the working of CYFS in case they turn out to be as difficult as their reputation suggests. I was discrretly put in contact with some people that are both high and low in the CYFS food chain. A phone call to Wellington gave me great insights into what they expect, what they like, and what they're looking for.

Likewise a phone call to someone on the other side of the fence, a Foster Mum that brought a lot of common sense - and dispelled a lot of uncertainty for me.

Look, I owe a huge huge huge thanks to all that contributed. There are a lot of people that deserve recognition, but as has been pointed out, while this is a highlighted incidence - it is by no means the only one.

I'm happy to say the CYFS side of things was reasonably non dramatic from what I can see - Shelby was there by the time I arrived and a few hours were spent talking through the next steps for the little man.

    He's a bloody good kid.

Someone in here mentioned this is a commmunity... exactly right. It's bloody stunning what happens in here.

Give and take folks... give and take. And there are two sides to it that need to be considered. Give - unconditionally. Don't cripple yourself doing it - that's dumb. But do what you reasonably can. You'll know when you hit your limit.

But likewise when you need to - put your hand up. I have... a lot of times and people have come to my rescue time and time again.

yaaaa - running out of steam. It had to be said... ttfn

Well said mate. Too many people try to tough it out on their own when help is only a call away. And those that want nothing more than to help end up wondering why they weren't called on. That's what friends want to do for friends. You're obviously a GC. Top show.

Now that's the kind of KBer I like! You sound like a true mate in the very best sense of the word and I am sure it's not only Sarge who appreciates your friendship. Having people like you who will step in and help with no motivation other than to stop someone hurting IS humbling.

Good on all of you, fair warms my heart this does!

Good on ya MDU. I know you have helped me out as well from time to time, even if its just to offer me help... when my relatives were sick, and other stuff. Your a top bloke and a good friend.

Sarge you are pretty awesome too.. when I first started on KB you were the first to pm me and help me decide and get a bike! (until you left, but you made sure I knew you were lurking!) Going to miss you when you leave. All the best, and let me know how you get on.
