    Bloody cops

This afternoon I decided to go for a walk at lunchtime.
For all of those familiar with the WCC buildings, there's a crossing right outside on Wakefield Street.
I looked both ways and saw a car coming up but figured it was going to stop as it was a wee way away still. Got 2 steps on the road and thought oh sh1t it's not stopping. So I jumped back onto the footpath just in time as a Commodore with steel wheels, big tyres, little red & blues and an LPG sticker on the bumper goes past !!
Inside was a plain-clothed man and a lady, both on their cellphones no less !!!!!!!
    I was fuming !!!!!

    Road safety first huh !!

Bloody hell, that's a bit average. Did you get the rego plate? You should dob them in. If there's a pedestrian on the crossing on your side of the road you must stop, it's the law.

I should have but knowing how the system works and "who" protects "who", wouldn't have got very far.

I'm told the Police Complaints Authority take complaints like this quite seriously. If you had someone with you who could complain at the same time but independantly of you, I'm sure some action would be taken even if it was just a severe atomic wedgie.

I hear what you're saying. But without numbers etc, waste of time for me.

I don't know -- worth a try anyway. My boss's daughter had cause to report a police car about a year ago; changing lanes without any warning or indication, made her slam on the brakes and just about cause a nose-to-tail. I forget what happened but something did to her satisfaction.

Silly police officers, those ones. Standard tourists' story from Italy is that to get anybody to stop at a crossing you have to have at least five or six people waiting, preferably with a couple of Mamas amongst them; otherwise they just shoot straight through.

You're only supposed to stop at crossings if you know the person crossing, don't you?
    Or she's blonde and fit..
It's only when you take the piss out of a partially shaved wookie with an overactive 'me' gene and stapled on piss flaps that it becomes a problem.

Apparently my parents, while taking me on holiday in Rome, would push me out in the pram - the motorists didn't care about most of the pedestrians, but would stop for the bambino.

Thats pretty shocking behavier from the police but honestly doesn't suprise me I would of liad a compliant just because I could.

Don't forget though that pedestrians have rules too like not crossing if the car is between that diamond and the crossing as far as I'm awear.
    Correct me if I'm wrong.
    Not saying you did.

Nope, babies aren't safe either. Romans do have pedestrian crossings, but they're simply places in which the local government have has applied a special road surface coating to allow the authorities to clean blood up more easily.

The only people immune from getting hit are nuns. If you want to cross a road, find a nun.

Yup they were behind the diamond at the time of me starting to cross.
