Question Decent Auckland Indian Takeaway out east?

    Hi all

Sitting here with Ms Xgnr and have decided to try a new Indian Takeaway tonight 'cos I cant be arsed cooking. Have to deliver to Eastern Suburbs tho eh

    Any suggestions?

Considering Jewel of India Mission Bay and recall it was quite good in the past. Currently use the Curry Village (pretty good) and have tried Ashahi (might be wrong spelling but you know the new one on Remuera Rd) but servings are pathetic so they "off the list".

    Cheers in advance

Hey dude, I've had great meals from a few of the Punjabi Dhaba indian places out east. Both eat-in and take-away. There's one in Botany town center and one about halfway down Te Irirangi Drive. Probably others elsewhere too.

Lol I was just about to recommend you come to Shahi (corner of Remuera and Upland Rds), where I work (my name's Tom), but then I saw you didn't like it so never mind.

Interested to hear you thought the servings were too small. Haven't heard that before. Most people seem to have trouble scarfing down a whole main; however if you're talking of what amount of food you get for your money then yes lol it's not much. Boss reckons he's not making much money off takeaways but I can't see how that is when a basic chicken curry with rice costs $14.50 takeaway. *Scratches head*

    Hey thanks for that Tom

Yeah food is nice sure enough but its the size for $ thats a bit of a put off, we usually make two meals out a takeaway but not from shahi which is a shame . Especially larfable is the mixed platter for two...

Will try out a meal at the restaurant soon eh.

Went with Jewell of India last night and were well impressed with the food and portions

    Cheers

I usually use Raviz in Ellerslie. It's actually pretty decent, there isn't any noticable quality reduction between their dine-in and takeaways.

Yeah I see what you mean. A heads up, though -- the dine-in portions aren't substantially different, and are of course even more expensive lol. The Remuera crowd love it, as it's a small restaurant so they can't get in, and if it were reasonably priced then they'd quickly lose interest. Funny how things work.

Stuff opening a restaurant if I don't make it through uni for whatever reason

Curried Away is a great name! I like the names of the fast food places in San Andreas as well; "Clucking Bell" & "Well Stacked Pizza" !!!
