Sweet! I'm hoping to do the North Island rounds if I can. Hopefully I can get my pace up to stop Smith and Co. from lapping me twice.

Maybe there is a long standing agreement with the Pukie track owners to have a round there? Or maybe it's just a tradition thing? I'd say that a majority vote of the racers would see it at Taupo though.

i think it is more to do with a club or promotor to run the event, Auckland MCC must want to stay running at Puke,

and I wish Manfeild could be the long track. Kind of silly when you have international racers at the National meeting and we can only race on the old part.
... and Puke vs Taupo... Hmmmm... 120 k's into a concrete wall (Taupo) or 180k's into armco (Puke). Gee what a great choice we have up here... (God I hope Hampdon Downs is good!)

Ever think that maybe no club or promoter applied for a Championship round at Taupo. It costs a hell of a lot for Auckland, or for that matter Victoria, to run a meeting there, cause you have to get your Workers/Marshalls etc to Taupo and then accomodate them for at least 1 night.
There is not a lot of money made from running Championship race meetings!

The problem with the big circuit at Manfeild is getting sufficient track workers/marshalls to man the marshalls points.

On another tact, I hear that the Hampton Downs Circuit have released their charge scales. To run the full circuit is $6000 per day plus $175 per competitor. That $6000 only opens the gates. It doesnt cover ancilliaries like Ambulance charges etc. How does an entry fee of $500.00 per rider sound, cause you can be assured that ALL the North Island Tracks will lift their charges if Hampton Downs can get away with it.

That sounds like a total rip off, although Hampton Downs would be a far better facility than the likes of Manfeild etc

Its not a rip off, just welcoming NZ into the real world of proper circuits, facilities and organising. You'd pay the same if not more to race on any other equally new tracks around the world.

I agree Kirk. If it does end up being as good as we hope. You gets what you pay for...
