Lions and Rotary........as lots have said. My son got full sponsorship for an outward bound course ($2000) witha simple explanation and speech about his intentions / reasons.
Good on him for getting accepted, it will be a great experience.![]()
Congrats to Zac, some good ideas, let us know if we can do anything.
Hugs to the Clan B.

1. I'm not emo.
2. Thanks for the oh so helpful suggestion.
3. Learn what the fuck an emo is before you start talking about them. (How would you like it if a bunch of people started saying that all bikers are murdering scum-bag filth? It's the same thing what you're doing.)
4. Get the fuck over it.
I'm actually sick to death of people not knowing what they're talking about and calling me emo etc. In good fun or not, it fucks me off.
Right, after that rant...
Thanks for all the helpful suggestions and I will be approaching Lions club sometime soon to organise something. Thanks to those who said they will help out, and thanks to ********* for taking the action he is. It's truly overwhelming.
I have my country selection today, and it's a toss up of French Belgium and Italy for 1st and 2nd place, and Mexico in 3rd place. Maybe some people who have been to Italy or French Belgium could shed some light upon them for me?
Peace hath higher tests of manhood
than battle ever knew.
I could talk to you about Italy until 'i mukki' come home.
I'm also wondering about funding. Many people have talked about sponsorship. You should seek sponsorship from someone who will directly benefit from the publicity you will generate for them (no good asking a bike shop to sponsor you for music for example). Try to get in touch with a drum or cymbal manufacturer and ask them for some dosh on the promise you will endorse their product in the future. Or approach some famous NZ perfomers for example, see if they've some spare cash.
Get in touch with tv programme producers too - judging by the shite they're putting on they're desperate for some decent real life stories. Get a camera crew to follow you round foreign parts and get paid for the whole time there.
Just my 2c
Good luck.
Sorry, back to the 'helpful suggestions that wont be taken seriously'.
How about doing a movie night.
Go down to local theatre and ask about doing a preview screening for an up and coming movie (comedy is a good choice so *everyone* will like it). Have the preview for the day before it is realeased to the public in NZ.
Sell the tickets at 10 -15 bucks a pop and provide food and drinks (you know all your rellies make a plate etc) and ask everyone you know to come.
People will justify spending the extra money as it is a fund raiser, they get to see the must see movie early and the get free food.
I wanted to raise money for the local animal rescue shelter so I made and iced two fruit cakes and put together two hampers - one with a dog theme and one with a cat theme. I got most of the stuff from the Warehouse and the $2 shop and the cat one made $150 and the dog one $80 (cat people are obviously more generous!). You could do a similar thing with maybe bike related stuff or anything with a theme (gardening, cooking, etc) and just collect together stuff to go in it. You don't have to make a cake, you could buy some fudge or chocolate or some decadent sauces, etc. I think they have a section for charity auctions and if you can get people to donate items to put in the hampers, even better!
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!
Best of luck to you Zac. I am glad you have decided to do it again, I truely hope it makes you happy
I'm not sure about fundraising sorry.. but I would partake in a ride or whatever to help you out![]()
I'm gonna make it so PC
Sell tickets to people that dont like you (still at school?) for $50 bucks to fire a dozen paintballs at you.
Try hitting up drunk people at the pub and/or biker ralleys for donations.
.
Man, I like those ideas. I imagine that if you did both at the cold-kiwi, you might be able to afford to take a friend. You might get people willing to pay for the opportunity to take pot-shots at each other.
Contact the organisors and see if you can rock up with a few raffles or such-like. You might need to do some shameless self promotion at the site. How hard can that be for a drummer?
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?
Texas Holdem Poker Night - its still all the craze.
Sell tickets in advance then work out how much of the money(percentage) will go as prize money. You may be able to consult with a local pub about holding it their that way they make the money over the bar and you make the money from ticket sales. Also check with a local pub who was part of the recent nz poker qualifiers in your region for a contact person whom you could pay to run the tournament and also use their poker tables.
DIA requirements are that the total prize money is not allowed to be more than $5000 and no more than $25000 monies to be taken as profit.
something like this.
7pm - 1030pm
BYO Alcohol
40 Tickets @ $40 = $1600 INCOME
Hall Hirage = $100
Peanuts and Chippies = $50
Tournament Person Fee = $150
Payouts 1st $500 2nd $200 3rd $100 = $800
PROFIT = $500 for 3.5hrs work and fun but hteres
No reason why you cant have more expensive tickets etc as long as prize money matches percentage wise,
Could be a cool event for Kiwibikers etc to gather at aswell.
I have been thinking about this and have an idea that I know the KBHB (Kiwibiker Hawkes Bay) gang will support
Motorcycle Progressive Dinner
Everyone buys a ticket for a 4 course dinner (or lunch)
Starts at xxxxx house for Soup
Then to xxxxb house for entree
Then to xxxxa house for mains
Then to xxxxc house for dessert
and finally xxxxd house for drinks and nibbles
This of course has to be done only riding a motorcycle (or a pillion) and can take in a few loops of riding between courses.
I would be happy to use our house for one of the courses.
The people responsible for their part supplies the food, preps it etc.
Therefore no cost to hXc.
Tickets can be $10pp (or whatever) and all proceeds go to his travel fund
We could even have a gang of helpers to go from place to place in a car to help out?
The main can be as simple as a bbq, or a full candlelight dinner
Of course no drinking until the riding has finished
It is alot of fun
