    Question How're our snowbound comrades?

Everyone OK in the frozen South?

I suppose the power is out so no one can post anymore lufferly pics.

It's been nearly 10 years since I last lived in a place that had winter snow. So I remember it with rosy glasses

I've forgotten that it was really like trying to work in white mud . . .

well not bad ... although I don't have to be anywhere today so can can just stay indoors with heatpump on!
I'm in the hills of Dunedin and theres no way I could get the car up the drive, let alone my ninja...

Thers only about 5cm of snow here - at least I'm not any further inland, looks like central otago's having a rough time.
    I didn't do it!

I lived in Dud for seven years - my favourite place!! I really miss it.

My dog became very obedient after the time he pulled on the lead when I was walking down icy Opoho Rd and I went arse over kite.

I took the Falcoon out to go to work, coming down Mechanic St. Gently applied the brakes as per usual, and slid out on to NEV Rd straight through to the other side. The whole firkin road was iced up and I hadn't noticed at six in the morning. That was interesting!

Theres a lot of dangerous roads with snow and ice and more snow to come. I'm about an hour from Dunedin between Milton and Lawrence. SH8 has quite a bit of snow on it over Round Hill and even through the Manuka Gorge this morning. There are a couple of abandoned cars on the roadside near the top of Round hill and really it should be 4WD only or with chains.
I've got around 20cm snow here as per this pic

I'm expecting it all to be around for quite a few days as it looks like it will clear up after Sunday and then freeze solid - the road bike can stay in the shed!! , but great fun on the KDX

Please think of the homo's up north. I haven't seen another bike on the road today.

Probably sitting at home having a cappafuckinglatteachinospresso instead.

    snow

got a txt from my parents last night to say they were stuck on the top of the Dunedin northern motorway in the snow, got caught on the way home for about 3 hours, just had to wait until they could follow a grit truck out.

First time in 14 years they have been stuck though, I used to ride my XJ over that motorway in some frightening conditions, like havung to wrap a rope around the back wheel to get up the hills.

Still bloody cold today, there has been a bit of a thaw so we can see some longer grass poking through the snow in places.

I'm not aware of any power cuts anywhere, or at least no major ones. A main power line between Dunedin and Balclutha was tripping out quite a bit last night, but power to Balclutha was maintained from an alternative circuit.

Right now I can see another bank of snow cloud rolloing in from the south.
    Time to ride
