Even if it's a cheaper bike the different configuration may suit your aspirations better.

    You'd never know.
For someone as inventive as yourself... mm get a trade price from first place on the Bird then go talk turkey down the road. If they want to make a sale they'd be sure to accommodate you.

But you need to go for a decent test ride on both

Nice writeup TA. It always happens when you least expect it, eh...

If you're looking at a new bike which is sportier and faired, I'd suggest that perhaps the Honda F4i would suit you well (the newer version with the banana seat). They've been discontinued in 2007, but they are very popular and quite sporty, while apparently still not too bad for 2-up riding. Anything sportier than that is just going to result in visits to the chiropractor for Tracey and probably you too, if you go on real long trips like the one you just described.

You could also look into the semi-faired version of the FZ6 or FZ1. They're both pretty nice, and will keep the wind off yah. Not a lot sportier than what you've got in terms of ergonomics, but the FZ1 will kick the pants off your Hornet.

Sorry to hear about the bin Terminal... hope you get the bike all pimped out... you ever think of turning it streetfighter style? Probably not, but I'm sure you'll make it look good

Making a proper streetfighter is hard and expensive, and you can't ride with a pillion. The Hornet already has a hooligan style to it. Streetfighters look cool, but they aren't really practical unless all you do is...well, streetfight.
