    Colin Edwards grinds on

Again Stoner showed class, but tyre selection is again the big problem. Edwards stuck in after been taken by Stoner but what is interesting Rossi must have chosen different tyres as his were torn to shreds. Racing wa s not as exciting as normal but there were heeps of bins in the wet apart from one nasty high side. It would be nice to see a Kiwi over there comepeting.

saw a wee bit on the news of the 250 race (we only have poor mans TV) and it looked crazy the number of bikes that were highsiding! and it would be awesome to have a kiwi competing in that sort of thing!!

Edwards has to do well to keep his job. He has been doing fugg all compared to his team mate and considering his past he should be up the pointy end more than he is.
He must be getting the "get a result or C ya later message".
The same could be said about alot of the "named riders" but if your a factory rider you must do the buisness and at least equal your team mates with the same gear. Yes i know alot is down to the team and manager but only the rider has the handlebars.
A kiwi would be great but who ?? do we have one coming through the ranks that would or could do the hard yards?.

The closest we have would be Sam Smith, or Dom Jones I think. and I think a lot of the problem is that to do well in MotoGP you need to start from 125's and 250's. neither of these classes are very well supported in NewZealand, 125's are growing at the moment which I believe is a good thing but Jacko from Aussie still embarressed all of us Kiwis!

Watched you race at Manfeild, ye there's not a lot of support for you guys but there aint the money in NZ so it looks like its got to be over to Aus and get some real experience.

Edwards was discussing tyres on crash.net. He mentioned he likes his bikes setup soft to emulate more the feel of the superbikes. He said Rossi likes his setup pretty hard like a 500. This is part of the problem with the Yamaha team, obviously with both riders on such different setups only 1 can really shine. Rossi's hard setup obviously caused problems in the race, he mentioned that when it dries out you are supposed to go quicker, but for some reason the tyres gave him issues and he went slower.
The tyre rules have also changed this year, this had a massive effect on Michelin, but helped Bridgestone immensely.
Last year Michelin got the art of making one off tyres sussed, in practice they would get the relative multi compounds sorted using various tyres. By race day they would have made a custom set specifically suited (with various compounds across its width) for the race. This is no longer allowed to happen. And given the other rules concerning numbers of allowed tyres per rider, its really put Michelin in the shit.
They will sort it out though.....and hopefully Rossi can give a good fight for the championship.
