    KB racing team?

Have been mulling this over for a while . Some people use the internet like a big resource, u know when you cant see the wood for the trees ask here and someone can put u on the right path.

Well Expand on that a wee bit, We all have skills in ALL shapes and forms, but its time we dont have BUT we ( with the use of the internet ) Share our skills, to help a luck sausage win the nationals ( ie I am tired of the same faces , want to see the underdog win , preferably a KB rider ....Hey whats wrong with that??????)

So What I was thinking was we break down the task of racing into its components, then people can say ,,hey I can do that and because there are a lot of willing hands the size of each task is small ( and easier ).

Lets use ( sorry Frosty , I ll use your bike as an example, though I would prefer u rider a Honda )

But what does that bike need to run at the top ,, new fork springs ?? a Gonk key ring ??? well I can supply the fork springs ( They become my fork springs with he understanding that they be used to win the nationals, when finished with I can have em back or what ever I decide to do with em ,, )

I also have skills not great but can do , I design bike parts here in Japan So my skills I would have to offer would be CAD , and Part Purchasing/sourcing

Others here have access to machining equip, Still more have skills in Marketing , Transport , You name it . and as it would be a shared task it makes it a whole lot easier, ie many hands make light work

What I would like to see though is the game of NZ motorcycling lifted to a more professional level

What I mean by this is, we have here on KB people with trades , Engineering shops , paint shops , Free advertising ie the PIT area professionally set up with advertising ( have a careful look how the GP pit is set up ...its the same concrete bunker as supplied at most tracks , but look at what they use and where things are kept. ( the public cannot see the shit ! , such as broken fairings and fuel cans etc . )

the firms that are being advertised can supply their advertising . work with some one here even supply some of the time to help ..

this needs to be co ordinated so that A knows what B is doing , and I am sure that a database , spreadsheet could be used ( Google's spreadsheets??)

If it took off and worked I dont see a problem in other riders joining .....

Just a thought thats all , why does one person have to try and do everything them self when there are others willing to help ?

Who would control this vast empire .... well could it not be made a sub forum / sticky thread of KB? because the mods here do do a fine job at the end of the day ,

    What U all think ??

Cool idea. Would it become political when we decide on who should be riding the bike etc? ...what tyres we should be using?

Maybe make it a democracy and decide by poll or something *shrugs*... I don't mean to nit pick and take a negative approach, but playing devil's advocate is my thing

I dont thinks so , if everyone is working for the same idea , and cause ,

As for tyres well its the BUM on the seat who has the final say , Confidence is a big thing.

In that situation, I would approach it like , here what I found , this is the reasons , try it see what you think !

If it is set up like say an organisation . with dept /section , who sole responsibility is to do one task.

and a forum where bullsh1t rules I rekon it would be a goa

Its just a thought I had while preparing mybike for racing ,, I have to do everything myself , so I can ( and dont have the skills OR MENTORS to bounce off ) to do a top notch Job ,, I just do the best I can

    Stephen

and just like a forum , people can move on , drop in /out as there is always a skill base

Cool idea! I'd be happy to help out where I can but I don't think there would be much I could help out with, except for may be pit bitch, not umbrella chick though... I rather put the tyre warmers on and do the more productive stuff

Never underestimate the importance of keeping cool on the dummy grid, mid-summer! Very important job is holding the umbrella!

This is a great idea. You want to support the underdog? I'm ya gal! I'd sure like to shake up F3 at a national/street circuit level.

Could be workable, might need more than 1 bike though as there are some bloody good riders here.

    Good idea.
I think you would need to run such a team in a similar manner to any other race team.
This would still involve some sort of management, but those things could be worked out by far smarter people than myself.
The team would have a passionate following by this web site, and great things could be achieved .

I'm not really good at this but I reckon:

    1. List what we need. Jobs/roles, gear/bikes.
    2. Make a list of what we have...
    3. Define the scope (Nats + PMCC + VMCC + BEARS etc)?
    4. Some sort of mission statement?

Hate to play devils advocate here but..... who is going to benefit from this KB race team, I know there will be no shortage of offers of assistance, but who will it go to? There are so many out there doing it that would no doubt benefit from a bit of support, on and off the road. So who will be the recipient?

All of Kb could potentially benefit from a KB race team. Would be cool for all who donate to the cause to see Kbers doing well in racing. Why not have multiple recipients?
Even something that seems as trivial as holding an umbrella, or a few petrol vouchers can go a long way.
