Thumbs up Donating red stuff with Donor...

Well, finally gotten out of discombobulated state after I went to give blood today! First time ever.

I was a bit when I approached the thumb-jab room and memories of my stay in hospital with it's vampiric nurses brought up old fears.

Nothing could be further from the truth! The thumb-jab was painless and quick and the actual extraction of 470 points of aqua vitae sanguine was as easy as squeezing the rubber ball!

Donor and I were chatting free and easy as you like in the relaxing couches as the merry liquid wound down into the collection bag (mmm..nice and warm is blood at body temp.)

And at the end, we heartily scoffed raisin pasties, shrewsberry cookies, tim tams and other biscuity delights - all quaffed down with copius quantities of R...A..R..O... Raro!

Lovely staff made sure we weren't about to faint from loss of blood and as we left, we chortled at the sight of try-hard boi-racer doing burn-out in a wash n'pay!

So.... go and sign up and donate some time and blood for a good cause!

Wouldnt mind donating blood sometime, do they tell you what blood type you are when they do the test? Because I still have no idea what blood type I am. Im up for anything as long as theres some biscuits involved.

They won't let me or the missus donate blood since there were 157 YES FOLKS 157 cases of vCJD by 2004 (Gasp) Out of a population of 60,000,000 that's ....that's....not exactly a fucken epidemic.

However the NZ Blood service would rather let a 20 year old bloke die on the operating table than take a 157/60,000,000 chance of his contracting CJD in later life.

    Heigh ho. Rant over.

I guess I should have asked those questions! But I was so busy stuffing my gob with free biccies I plumb fergot!

Donor? You there Donor? Or did you light up a ciggie so you could get an increased hit of nicotine in your blood stream due to less volume of blood!

Donor would know. He knows all sort of scary but fascinating stuff connected with bits being in and outside of bodies!

The point is, it's yer Scottish blood they take umbrage with! The fear of a person waking up and suddenly taking on an accent and querying the medical charges is always to be considered, first and foremost!

Most centres have late nights on Tuesday and Thursdays. I did it this evening with Donor driving me there as I found six shades of yellow on my back and started clucking... got there at 7.40pm...dagnabbit! Had to go through with it!

Opens till 8pm on those days!

Donating blood is good for guys to get rid of iron. the way i see it if you would accept it in a time of need then you should be prepared to donate.

knock back a pint afterwards waheeeey

And make sure you watch Blade before you go, then wonder where the blood really does go to...... muhahahahahahaha
