Waddaya reckon? CBR600RR vs. YZF R1 vs. RZ350LC
Not just speed of course, aethetics, style, comfort, etc?
I have to think of what grown up bike im gonna get before i get stuck in the student loan quicksand
ok, it is a RZ350K. First of the YPVS models. Famous for dead CDI units and stators. They also have a different wiring loom and connection than the 84+ models so these bits can't be easily replaced.
Use the same sliding pin calipers as the previous non-YPVS 4LO LCs. Later models were better.
Value - with WOF and reg around $1k depending on condition. Rattles and big end knocks will reduce that a lot.

What ever it is,if you buy it also buy a bottle of RED X upper cylinder lube.
    Read the instuctions.
This will get you over any unleaded problems.

The RD/RZ will run on 91 unleaded ok in stock trim.
Other known problems, apart from being thrashed to death are the powervalve linkages flogging out, and coking up if you use poor oil.
The front forks are really soft - use progressive springs and a bit more oil. I ran 6PSI in my air forks before I got the stiffer springs. The back shock flogs out - I have heard of others being made to fit (CBR??) but I would have to dig out the link. Alecs RD forum has lots of LC/YPVS nuts http://www.yamaha-rd.com/forum/

I cut 6 coils off my front springs & made a longer preload spacer to replace the lost length. Stiffens the spring rate quite nicely.

    Arrow I'd love another one.

Had a 81 RD250LC and a 87(ish) RZ350LC. Sadly I have neither the room in the garage nor the money. So unless you want to trade the bike on a vintage kawasaki, good luck.

I was inspired by a RD350 streetfighter I saw in an old Streetfighter book. I had 1998 RS250 fairings in dark purple. It looked great

If I had more money though I would go for a NSR250 and get the 300cc kit for it. You can get more power out of that. RDs have about 70hp at the wheel dont they?
