The new rule will be in effect at round 3 of the vmcc winter series. For those struggling to purchase an extinguisher before the meeting, Dannevirke Suzuki will have around 50 for sale on the day. Starting price is $30 for 1kg unit.

If you can afford to have two, then I would have a foam one on hand as well.
With a decent sized Co2 you will deal to most fires quite well....despite my earlier posting a fuel fueled fire (errr?) will be brought under control with a Co2 extinguisher, provided the fuel isnt still atomising or under pressure..ie spraying (from fuel pumps etc).
Fom will deal with a runaway fuel fire by dousing.
It is important to remember that once you have cracked an extinguisher open to use the whole lot.. once its opened it will continue to leak once you release the trigger, and will need to be recharged anyway.
    A- Carbonaceous Solids
    B- Liquid Fire
    C- Gas Fire
    D- Metals
    E- Electrical
    F- Fats/ Cooking Oils

Well i have the trusty Wormald 1.1 kg in the garage so i must remember it on race day.
    QUESTION ....
If a rider / pit area doesnt have an extinguisher, does that mean they cant - race , fuel up , or start a bike ???? Whats the rules for this ????
is it disqualification till the rider / pit area gets one on hand ?.

Also how are we going to let all those affected know about it? (to be fair).

I have asked MNZ the same question and am waiting for a reply. My guess is that there will be a sensible management of the situation but am anxious that some will read that as "Oh well, no rush then". I will be getting one and encourage those that know about this to pass the word on and get one themselves.

Thanks Clive and im sure sensible will be the key to this for round 3 but if told in the riders brief that round 4 is compulsary then all will have no excuse .
If its an MNZ rule we have to be seen to conform.
If the club does a mass email that asks all entrants to remind friends etc then we should cover everybody involved.
    Cheers Paul.
