Any Wgtn plumbers on this site?

I got a quote to install a dishwasher, it seems ludicrously high. $417.
Last time I had one installed it cost me $150.00.

    Advice and or ideas please.

    Thanks

How long is a piece of string? Is your kitchen or the location where you wish to put your dishwasher plumbed and wired for a dishwasher? If the answer is yes (and the machine isn't a F&P Dishdrawer) then the installation cost will be low. If the answer is no, the installation cost will be directly proportional to the amount of work required to bring water (and electricity) to the dishwasher and to take waste water away.

Good luck finding a plumber at short notice, although the firm that sold you the dishwasher should have some strings they can pull to get the machine installed and operating for you in a reasonable space of time.

What needs doing? Is there a drain nearby? Is there a power socket nearby? Are you just replacing an old one or is it a totally new installation?

May be able to help, but need more info.

Just don't get my landlord's mate to come and install it! He's not a real plumber. He came over to fix a small leak in a pipe in the bathroom Sunday evening, I came home yesterday after work to find a stream of water coming down the driveway, with half the house an inch deep in water upstairs. There was also the loud sound of gushing water behind the wall where he'd "fixed" the pipe too.

    Get someone who's qualified!

Everything is close by - matter of putting hose to tap - need a special fitting, connect up to waste. It is beside the kitchen sink, and 1 or 2 feet away from outside pipe.

Other half to do the dishes....... DODGE is right - cheaper to get a dishwasher.

If I was meant to do dishes I would have been born with a brush in my hand!!

just had double dishdrawer installed at my place, cost $70 for parts and $70 for labour. Over phone he quoted around $200 but after seeing how simple it was going to be it came in cheaper.

Plumber needed to add tap outlet to exisitng water line(plastic lines not the copper pipes) replace waste trap with suitable dishwasher waste trap) connect waste hoses to the waste trap and test the thing to make sure it works. about 1.5 hrs labour.

Guess what im saying is get another quote from another Plumber - mine is based in Upper Hutt so probally wouldnt be keen to head out into Welly.

I wasn't aware there WERE any Plumbers in Wellington, certainly not ones who are willing to do residential work.

As said here it can be simple or pain in arse.We bought d/w off trademe,I had idea that I could plumb in,as our pipes were pvc not copper, and had put in underbench water filter so was confident enough.
Checked with plumber mate as to fitting tee join in cold water inlet,he asked is it grey or cream pipe,it was cream so he did it lol.The grey pipe is easy to cut and join but apparently the cream can be difficult. On the outlet side I went and ran the pipe directly under the floor and joined to waste pipe,so if it leaks when emptying the water will be outside, not over floor inside, had thought of fixing tap under the floor as well but plumber had placed tap inside.
