    Food banks

    Hi all

Just watched one news and saw an article on a food bank that may need to close down due to not been able to pay its rent of $30,000 for back payments and the wherehouse they use there rent is $10,000 a month

I think the owners of the wherehouse would be more compassionate about the fellow struggling man to reduce the rent which i believe is too high

i think its sad that they have all this food that the can give to the families that need it but cant distribute it

    rant over

    ...hmmmm .....

.....why do we need food banks in the first place ....for me, is a more important question / issue, compared to why should a person who invests their money in a warehouse etc, have to subsidise food banks?

if the answer is yes, then isn't the fact they they exist, just making it worse?

Hang on .... define poverty line ?? ... we live in a welfare state and as such should be provided with the essentials to live. I for one would like to know how people cannot make ends meet. (from your personal point of view)

The DPB pays well enough now, and it payed well in the 90's as well ... i worked on the front line for income support ... years ago .. and the cases of poverty were few and far between.

cause most of the ppl that were/are stuggling are too proud to ask for help and to admit they are well

I don't mean to be a pain in the ass and i'm sorry if this comes across that way .. but if I needed help I would ask for it, especially if i had children to feed, my pride would never take second place to my children.

That is one large warehouse with a heap of stuff in it. Downsizing the amount being stored could mean a smaller and lower cost warehouse. You can't expect the owner of the warehouse to donate $10,000 a month.
    Here for the ride.
