    GSXR1000 clutch shaft.

Does anyone have a 2006 GSXR1000 clutch shaft handy (they might be the same size and spline all years from 2001 ?)..even a clutch hub.
I am trying to find out if it is the same spline/OD as the TL1000.

They look similar,GSXR on the left,TL on the right.

I had looked at Ronayers before.
The basic TL and GSXR clutch are very different, what i want to do if the splines are the same (i don't know if they are) is remove the TL clutch from its drive gear and replace it with a 2006 slipper after i remove it from the GSXR drive gear.
Far from that easy, but it all depends on the spline if it is worth buying a 06 clutch off Ebay. (for starters)

From what I can gather the diamater of the shaft is the same as they both run the same i.d. bearings. As to the shape of the spline itself I don't know.

    Will do Mike

Indeed OAB,i think one fiche (Bikebandit) i looked at seemed to show the bearing as being shorter by a 0.5mm but otherwise the size looked the same as the TL.

isn't it all attached together in the gearbox as one piece?

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

    The shaft is.

It is the spline on the end i am trying to find out about and if it is the same as the TL1000 spline.

This is a 2006 GSXR1000 clutch, they have a cam arrangement similar to the TL1000 except on the TL the cam is reversed.
I think the 2001 to 2004 GSXR cam is similar to the TL in operation, the 06 version is much better (also on the 600/750)
If item 16 has the same internal spline as a TL then i may be able to do this mod.
The thought was if someone had a 06 GSXR1000 clutch shaft handy (or clutch i guess) i could compare it to the TL spline wise.
You can see the three rivets on the back of the drive gear, that is all that holds the clutch unit on,the TL has the same set up,i propose to remove and refit a GSXR clutch to the TL gear.

    06 GSXR 1000

    TL1000S 1997 to 98 on the left,TL1000R 1998 to 2003/TLS 99 to 01 on the right,same drive gear,different size clutch basket for 5 and 6 spring.

I can't wait to test them on gravel I guess 43 is out now unless i change back to the polished wheels for those more interesting rides.

I took a look on Gixxer.com and the first thing i see is a clutch stickie.
It seems the 05/06 GSXR1000 clutch can do with a mod, great thread with plenty of pic's.

Picked it up today,Mike..will soon know,if it looks anything close i will machine the rivets off the drive gear and basket.
If not i will onsell it at cost since they go into the 2001 to 2004 GSXR1000 which has a conventional hub but the drive and basket is the same i believe.
The good thing about getting things out of the US is low mileage mint parts are common.
