    Update

Stripped down the front end last night and cleaned out the headstock bearings of old grease which had started to granulate from sitting so long the bearings & races are in good condition so have repacked with grease and re-assembled the triple tree. The forks are going to get flushed out & have a dose of new oil and general tidy-up.

The front & rear brakes are in for a strip & clean also as well as new fluid. Pads both ends are in fairly good condition with enough life left in them to still be used for a bit.

The swingarm has been reassembled with all the bushes & moving parts having been cleaned & repacked with grease. And is now fitted back into the frame ready to be torqued up.

Exhaust has been stripped down, scrubbed down to get rid of rust, rust treated, and painted with a black high temp ceramic fortified paint. And the muffler has been repacked. The exhaust system is actually a Premier system from aussie which matches the age of the bike nicely.

The wiring loom has had a good clean & check, with some dodgy looking connections being replaced and all others cleaned & firmed up. The only item in the system that wasn't working was the sidestand light so have to investigate further into that one, the bulb is good so it's elsewhere in the circuit. Fitted the new tail light unit but had to change the connector from a four pin to three pin to match the existing unit on the loom.

The bodywork has had a good wash and polish and is ready to be fitted when the time comes.

So Betsy is into striptease huh??
I mite know where I could track one down but I'll have to get the bush-telegraph working
Maybe a fresh set of rubber grommets for the side covers to plug into wouldn't go amiss either

Got the pods for the bike today.

Just dummy fitted them & the carbs in place to see what they'll look & sit like
Should work quite nicely once I've adjusted the carbs to suit

Hopefully if I get a clear run at the bike tomorrow, it shouldn't be to far from being ready to fire up again and get it's clothes back in place

    Getting closer

    Filthy is getting closer

Got the front end completely reassembled and set to go.
Plumbed the wiring loom back onto the frame and most connections hooked up to their respective items.
Swingarm & suspension linkages have been torqued up, the wheel is back in place.
Parts of the bodywork are back on the bike, the handlebars have been replaced and new ones fitted, switch blocks have been put back along with the dash and ignition.
Throttle, choke, & clutch cables have been hooked up again ready to adjusted & set.
Basically what's left to do is finish putting the bodywork back on, fresh oil & filter , flush the tank, throw in some fresh fuel and hopefully the old bitch will fire up ready for use with hopefully only some minor adjustments needed to make sure everything works properly.
Then out of the shed she comes and a bit of checking out on the road

Something like the last pic should be close to the final result without the gawdy colour scheme

    Good stuff Bill.

Looking forward to inspecting the finished product! I'll be happy to cruise out there again to check it out / talk some shit for a while.

The NZ is going well, I've been riding it to work the last couple of weeks to help scrub the rear tyre in, plus a Sunday ride out to Godley house for a snack and chat with Cowboyz6155, that was good. Felt the old confidence was a bit off as a result of my bin, but it was still a good ride.

Nice pics too actually mate. Surprised the dogs didn't make it into one of them!
Soapbox house of cards and glass, so don't go tossing your stones around.
You musta been.... high. You musta been...

lols it's simple to get stuck into them just like a big meccano set. Just depends on how far you want to go or how far you need to go.
Should dig up some pics of when I've had to dig into the guts of things on previous bikes.
