I have a spare gs125 carb as well as the forks, in fact I think I might have 2. Not sure if they would be ok.

Anyway unless you're whipping everyone else is anyone going to want to check? Not much chance of that against F5 Dave's sorted 50 and a few others I wouldn't think.

Hmmm, this bucket racing is starting to sound more & more attractive. What are the other associated costs? e.g. club licence, running costs, etc.

How often & where do you race? We went & watched at Kaitoke Go Kart track and was great to watch, especially the Motards. Some very cheap looking older bikes but also saw a very expensive looking Aprilia.
Someday we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.

You have to have a MNZ race license, and have to belong to a club to get one of those. $40ish for the club, $80 for the race license, both per year. $25 entry fee per class you are racing in on the day.

Racing is normally the last sunday of each month, Next year 6 meetings are at Kaitoke but at the moment they swap between Tawa market gardens & General Motors Upper Hutt. I'm not sure if there is a between season layoff.

Running costs, I guess it depends how often you crash it and how much you want to spend to make it go faster. I go through less than a tank of gas per meeting so say $10 petrol per meet and I have to hire a trailer to get the bike there so another $30 for me each time. Tyres etc will probably last forever, especially if you're as slow as me. My bike runs skinny biscuit tyres so I could probably get some cheap worn out replacements from a wreacker for next to nothing.

You also need a good helmet, boots, gloves and 1 piece or 2 piece zip together leathers as per any other race class.

Bike cost, anything from free out of someones paddock/barn/shed to $300-$800 for something set up & ready to race.

Check out this old thread that goes through it all.

You are so bloody lucky this time Blakamin.....
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.
