Carburettor guru in Auckland?

Who would you recommend for fiddling with carbs in Auckland?

My bike is an 06 Suzuki s83 (1400cc V Twin Cruiser aka vs1400 Intruder). I have a set of slip on Vance and Hines mufflers and K&N air filters to be installed on it (arriving from the US hopefully within a week). With these added I am expecting it will need the carbs adjusted to account for the improved breathing. From the internet research I have done most recommend adjusting the fuel mixture screw to make it richer (which I understand only affects idle mixture) and rejet the carbs. But others say rejetting may not be needed (or that effective) and perhaps the needles can be raised with a spacer or bigger jets or different needles, balancing......

Anyway whatever the answer I want to get it right first time resulting in a sweet running bike with more noise and power than stock. Colemans would be the usual choice for servicing but is there someone else out there who will be competent paying particular attention to the carburettion. I will also get it serviced at the same time.

Rogson has kindly offered to help so a 'green thingy' for him (if I can work out how to award one) and I will be in contact. A great example of the KB spirit. Any one else with suggestions?

To be absolutely sure you need to put it on a good dyno with a gas analyzer shoved up the pipe. Once finished you will KNOW that it's good/right. Try Toby at Henderson Motorcycles.

Timorang--Get the bike on a Dyno for sure. There are other ways of sussing the bike out but putting it simply an hour in a dyno room will save you many hours of traditional mixture setups

I ordered the exhausts and K&N filters from the US of A. They arrived in just over a week following payment (Visa). I did not get pinged for any taxes at this end and they cost approx half of the cost to buy here from a shop. I got them from JC Motorcycles Ebay shop - RECOMMENDED.

Last weekend I fitted the new V&H mufflers. It took a couple of hours in total. The fitting instructions were poor and the hose clips supplied to secure the heat guards were too short but once I got past these matters they fit well. The finish is good. I Thought I would go for the full noise to start with and removed the packing around the baffles and fired it up - well phark me what a difference! Went for a ride for an hour or two and noted that people were looking for the source of the thunder a long way before I got there. Commuted on it yesterday and I was a little to self conscious of the racket it made. I am not shy when it comes to making some noise on my bikes, but this was too much. So last night I put the packing back in. I have not ridden it yet (back on the Hornet) but the research I did suggests they will still have 'the sound' but not the harshness of no packing. No carb adjustment except for turning the idle down a little. It starts and runs well.

I have the K&N filters to drop in. At this point with improved intake I expect the carbs will need adjustment. I will give the Henderson workshop a call to discuss. A stage one jet kit may be required. If so I will probably order this from the US as well and to make the freight worth while it may be NECESSARY to bring in some other items......

so who is the guy that actually helped out here ? i,m in timaru and require a new or another carb diagrfam , this ones got a hole in it , price in nz is 290 bux !!! this is why i need to look at fixing it rather than getting new one , being told loctite406 may do it ? thoughts please .

The KB'er who offered to assist was "Rogson". I have not pursued this yet as I have only added the V&H slip on ehausts and the carburettion seems fine with that change. I expect when I drop in the K&N filters and more air is going in that the carbs will need to be looked at. But anyway you could PM Rogson who seems quite knowledgable.
