    Rg50

Hi, just bought an RG50 a couple of weeks ago and have started to ride it around a bit, the bike was supposedly restricted to 50/60 km/h by a baffle, on the carby I assume? And it is also rev limited in the last three gears (4th, 5th and 6th) to about 7000 RPM, is that throught the CDI? The bike "tops out" at about 70 km/h, once again I assume its because of the rev limiter. Could the exhaust also be "baffled"?

Any information on these restrictions would be greatly appreciated.

like all 2 strokes the bike relys on the exhaust for alot of its power,
when the exhaust get coked up with all the carbon from the oil it starts to change the pulse characteristics thus effectively slowing the bike down, the baffle you mention is in the exhaust as well,
firstly you have to decoke the expansion chamber. 2 ways to do this a. burn it out b. with chemicals, namely caustic soda and water mix.
both options require you to remove the exhaust,
next restricted electronically, with out seeing the bike myself, im not sure if you can sort this out, im pretty sure i could if i had the bike in front of me,
you have to find out how the bike knows its in 3rd 4th and 5th, thats pretty advanced wiring for a 50cc so i'd say your probably imagining that it is restricted in those specific gears,
failing finding the cause, then the obvious thing to do is put a new cdi in it,
when they were common racers guys used to use rm80 cdi's but there are plenty of other cdi options out there these days

before you do anything else decoke the exhaust,

Would the exhaust baffle be inside the exhaust (cant be reached without cutting it open), or at the junction with the head?
How often are you "supposed" to clean the exhaust systems out?
Im am 90% sure the last three gears are restricted, and it makes sense for the bike to be able to give you the acceleration needed without exceeding speed in the last gears.
Are most CDIs compatible, i've seen two types of connectors: five and six pins, those that mean anything apart from the physical diffrence. I have also noticed that they are grouped in engine capacity (50 to 250 cc, etc), what are the differences?

    cheers
