EDIT: Sorry I have doubled up this thread!
The following release is from Gresini Honda:
Miguel Duhamel Replaces Tony Elias at LagunaSeca:
Toni Elias is continuing with his recovery from the broken left femur he picked up at Assen. After spending a few days under observation at the Dexeus Institute in Barcelona, where he has been treated by Doctor Xavier Mir, Toni is now able to continue his rehabilitation at home.
His return is pencilled in for either Brno on August 19th or Misano on September 2nd.
For the Sachsenring GP, the Team Honda Gresini has decided to replace Toni Elias with Michel Fabrizio, the 22years old Italian rider.
Fabrizio, who replaced Toni even last year for the British round, had an unlucky launch on the MotoGP at Donington. In fact he was injured during the second day of the practices.
"I'm happy that Toni is recovering well and I hope he is coming back soon" - comments Fausto Gresini - "for the German round, we give Michel another chance, he is a young and enthusiastic rider".
For the Laguna Race, the Spaniard rider of the Gresini Honda Team will be replaced by an American rider from Honda USA: Miguel Duhamel. Born in Canada but resident in Las Vegas, Duhamel is racing in the AMA Superbike championship with great results (5 times winner of the Daytona 200, winner of the Ama Superbike championship in 1995, 2 times winner of the AMA Formula Xtreme in 2005 and 2004).
"Duhamel is an experienced rider" - comments Fausto Gresini - " for the USA Grand Prix - "he knows the Laguna Seca track very well and we think it is a great opportunity for an American rider to race in this important event for the media and the spectators. Duhamel will race both Motogp and AMA races on Sunday at Laguna, he is enthusiastic of this challenge".
