G & R version for me. Bob's is too boring.

(i love any version of the song myself)
I actually like the Eric Clapton version more than either of those 2. But if I had to choose, I'd go GnR.

Good song, great lyrics but the performance choices are

Dylan - Stoned hippie spasmodically talking his way through it
GnR - Tuneful screaming with good guitar backing

second .. Dylan is cool... but Claptons version is the best
Quite right on both counts. I wouldn't even pick up a G&R CD to wipe my bum with. (......draws interesting picture in head..........)

I prefer the Clapton version over both of those, but if it had to be between GNR or Dylan then it would be Dylan. Axle Rose is a complete cock!

Got a version by Roger Mcguinn and Gene Clark that is great - my favourite version by far!

Got it on a CD from the Warehouse a couple of years ago - one of those obscure collections of Byrds related songs.

Hear a lot of the G'nR version around here. Both my daughters have fine taste in music though I personally like the song performed by anyone.
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!

Give that man a cigar. Just hearing the name of that band makes me want to puke. The guitar guys are ok - but that absolute wanker of a lead singer makes me so fkin mad for some reason. Screaming talentless twat.

    I vote Bob.

I assume Dylan wrote it for that movie and THAT scene. After seeing old Slim sitting there slowly dying as the sun sets, taking off his badge..well nothing else would do but Dylan's original. What a memorable movie scene that was.
