Wow. Im sure I have seen that doing the rounds EVERY year and they always say the same thing.... It will only work in XXXX
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

You're right... got this at work three years in a row... and it worked each time, although the formulas may differ slightly...

    here's me being a pedantic pri*k :)

It'll work for any year if the magic number 1757 is adjusted appropriately.

Lets say the number you had in mind is "x".

    In effect, the calculation is:

(twice the number x + 5) multiplied by 50 and then added to 1757, minus birth year.

    ie:
    (2*x + 5)*50 + 1757 - birthyear
    = 100*x + 250 + 1757 - birthyear
    = 100*x + 2007 - birthyear
    = 100*x + age.

Ofcourse since x is a single digit number and age is a double digit number, the result will be a 3 digit number with x=1st digit and age=last 2 digits.

It may not work correctly if you are a old geezer 101 yrs old.

Yes its a quite day at work and I have too much time on my hands.

Geez, if I am still scoring when I'me 101 , the least of my concerns will be whether this formula ses it does or not......
