    Fire extinguishers compulsory

    6-12-4a
At all Road Race meetings a 1kg (minimum weight) sealed and operational fire extinguisher mush be visibly present in each riders pit area.

Just to remind people that this rule is now in effect so we will all need an extinguisher at the next Vic Round.

Should be able to buy them at the local hardware store ... mitre 10 bunnings etc ... or safety store.

Would be an ideal product to buy through the proposed KBRacing Team.

Brilliant rule. Unless you are very quick, very lucky and very skilled, a 1Kg cylinder is about as much use on a fuel fire as pissing on it.
ACC - It's where the Enron accountants all went.

Dont panic yet folks. The rule is for the NATIONAL SERIES but not yet effecting the Vic Club in my understanding.
I will phone a comittee member to have this confirmed / denied.
PS; i agree with the rule but notice has to be given.
    Cheers Paul.

Ummm didnt i just state i agree with the rule ?????.

BUT , the only thing a 1 kg cylinder will smother is a slightly flared up cigar.
I personally would like to see a 3 kg as a minimum for a pit with fuel stored in it but i would also like to see a training program drafted by MNZ to support safety. I have seen 5 kg cylinders emptied on a small fire wrongly and it had no effect at all because of it.

If every rider has one it might make a useful difference. Don't be shy about getting a bigger one though.
At the VMCC we totally agree with and support this rule. We knew it was coming, but as far as I know we have not yet been informed that it is compulsory for our next meeting. It's a good idea and we should do it, but I will check with MNZ to see if it is in place for our next meeting. If it is, we will need to know how to police it. Will it mean that the meeting can't run, or that riders in pit areas without an extinguisher will be excluded. It would have been good to have time to announce it via the oily rag and riders briefing.
