Places to go to get re-baffled in Auckland

My VZ800 is a bit baffle-free at the moment (see attached rather grainy pic of the back end of one of the pipes - big black hole), and although there are some nice aspects of a noisy bike, I might one day need to get another WOF. Before I bought it, it passed a WOF sans baffles, but that was down country where they might be a bit more lenient about applying the letter of the law - don't think that's as likely back here in Auckland. She's also backfiring a bit when warming up and I can smell uncombusted fuel sometimes, and I'd rather fix the pipes first than have to possibly fix any other problems twice.

So, a question for the KB zorst experts - where are the good spots around Auckland I could go for someone to make me some baffles? I've been pointed at Custom Chambers but I'd appreciate any other recommendations so I can shop around a bit. Any guesses at what it would cost to make up some baffles and fit 'em? Im assuming this will be cheaper than buying new mufflers?

    Thanksh!

    Gidday Rainman,
Give Warren a call at Virgin Mufflers on 021 035-2218. He works from home, has a quick turn around & does a great job for the money

    Cheers

If you know what you want, you can just draw up a sketch and get any competent muffler manufacturer to do it.
My FahrtSturm had the end caps cut out by a previous owner, so I had some new ones made for $60 (for the pair) at Woolf Mufflers.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

I don't know if this will help but a lot of "performance" cars with dustbin endpipes have baffles that slip inside the can help in place by 3 bolts

    Gidday Babyblade,
What sort of thing are you after... Between Warren & myself, he's me neighbour, we can pretty much scratch build whatever you want (within reason...)

    Re: Vance & Hines

    Gidday,
Are they the slash cut type with the removeable baffle, or more of a straight "Drag" style pipe ?

I'd have to have a look see at them to see what we've got to work with first...

As a rule the V & H stuff is top class kit...

Give Warren a buzz on the number above, tell him you've been yakkin with Scottie online & tee up a time to bring the bike across... (New Lynn)

    We'll go from there...

    Cheers
