I need some boots... your thoughts on something good?

Ok.. just splashed out on a new Rev'it jacket and pants... now its time to get some boots... only problem is i want something that looks the part (like a race boot) but will still keep my toes warm and dry on those cold winter rides. Ive got my old Army boots that keep me warm and dry but not too sure how well they will protect my ankle in a crash.
There are so many on the market I dont even know where to start,

What do you wear? How do you rate them in terms of comfort, warmth and keeping you dry?

I'm a size 46 if someone out there is wanting to flick off a pair cheap.

My boots are Daytona (www.daytona.de) Traveller GTX that I bought when I lived in Switzerland.
They're absolutely perfect for me. I'll be looking to replace them with the same when they wear out. Unfortunately the only New Zealand distributor isn't stocking them any more. Could be hard to get hold of.

A little off topic but worthy none the less...

Keep an eye on the seams of the waterproof liner... the tend to give way, especially inside of the elbows where they bend the most. First indication will be slight dampness of your inner elbow... then the whole thing starts letting water in... Had mine just over a year now and had to re-treat it to make it waterproof.

    Good luck with the booties...

Oxtar do a Goretex version of the TCS. I have a pair and they are superb - waterproof, heaps of protection in all the right places and warm is easily dealt to by a pair of woolly socks. The woolly socks stay warm because they don't get wet.

For commuting I wear StylMartin City boots. Again waterproof, again warm when worn with woolly or thermal socks.

I love my Sidi boots, have had them for about 3 years now and have never had wet or cold feet. They are a size too big which means they fit a sheepskin inner sole - toasty!

Motomail have the Puma boots, a road version at $499 and a race boot at $749

You could also jion the Kiwibiker Sidi club. These seem to be the most popular boot worn at KB rides.

They are comfortable, and about as warm as you could expect from a light sports boot.
I have riden in some pretty horrendous weather with them, and still had dry feet. You do have to remember to close the vents first

Motomail have them for $499, but their sale is on till the 15th July. They may be cheaper, you never know your luck!

I've been wearing a pair of Daytona boots for the past 13 years.

getting a little worn now but have hept me warm and dry (Gortex lined) all this tiime

This includes the 2 years in the UK when i rode despacth intercity in all weathers and clocked up about 400,000 km in that time (250,000 miles)

Cost me 200 pounds then. Best investment I have made in riding gear.

I bought a pair of Stylsafe boots...brilliant..totally waterproof, have an inner protection around the ankles and so damn comfy...would totally recommend them about $450

Do not walk beside me as the path is narrow

Hold the press, big price drop in Alpinestar gear thanks to the US dollar and out dollar, check the website at http://www.alpinestar.com

Run it through a currency calculator and you will be shocked like I was
