    New British biker. (Reuben)

Hi, my names Robin and I'm from London and currently staying with a friend in Feilding but intend to travel around all of NZ by motorbike if possible.

Used to ride a GPZ500s very spiritedly in and around London mainly, as well as around the UK. I'm looking to buy a bike at the moment (possibly a dual purpose even for my short arse) but something cheap and reliable, so if you know of anything then please give me a shout. Or if you see me riding about then say hello, short skinny ginger British guy generally looking lost.

and hello in general I guess.

    Cheers.

G'day Robin, welcome to biking heaven, and KB.
Dunno what you want to throw at a bike but I have an excellent Bandit 1200S for sale, $9000, immaculate condition, brilliant for touring on.
Enjoy the tour whatever you do.

Greetings & Salutations Robin, welcome to the colonies, Fielding??? strange place to land but there are plenty of KB'ers in Palmerston North and around the Manuwatu. Im sure they will look after you. Enjoy NZ and ride safe, but note that driving style is rather different to England, watch out of those cages, especially at intersections, no one gives way in NZ

Welcome to KB and NZ Robin.
Good luck with the bike search and enjoy the tour when you get sorted. Make sure you stay in touch on here. I'm sure you will find lots of willing folks to show you around their own particular patch of the country as you move around.
Where else would you find 4000+ tour guides, all willing to show you around at the drop of a hat.

Hi Robin. Welcome to New Zealand and to KB! If you're based in Feilding then there's a great bunch of people around here ready and willing to introduce you to the roads of the Manawatu and beyond. We've quite a few ex pat British here also, check out Blacksheep, English, and Sarahtvet, to name a few. We all get out regulary and the rides are guaranteed excellent. Keep an eye on the Ashurst Boys threads - great rides and company. See you out there. Cheers

Thanks for the welcome, afraid I wont have lots of time to get on the internet after leaving where I'm currently staying so if you see me make sure to give me a shout. Hardly see any bikes about which is odd, rode down to Wellington on my friends bike yesterday and saw a handful, that was it.

    Cheers.

I've noticed the same thing comparing Aus to NZ - hardly any bikes about on NZ roads when I've been back home to visit.

Which is kinda nice. You feel like you are on some kind of permanent unspoken Sunday group ride around the popular biking roads of Brisbane . . .

    Welcome Robin!

NZ is a nice place apart from the driving skills on the roads...... They ARE out to get us!

    Enjoy your tour!!!

You should have been in the rapa yesterday Robin. Wall to wall bikes. I pulled into Martinborough square to find probably 40 bikes sitting. The hill was busy as and quite a few chatting at the top.
You just need to know where we play.

Coz they were all up here... man there were heaps, nearly every second vehicle was a bike making the most of the weather. Literally dozens of dozens seen in short time. Was there a ride on somewhere????
