While that is the law, I think, in effect, its actually a list of permitted bikes.
I'm sure most of our cops are able to check a bike against a list... aren't they?![]()

I think there's probably only about a dozen unique topics ever discussed on KB, and they just repeat over and over again.
I don't doubt that bike will sell. Red Baron seem to be overpriced in almost every respect; even getting spark plugs from them seemed to be an extra couple of dollars compared to the usual $6 I normally pay.
Do Red Baron have a representative on KB? A lot of the other motorcycle shops seem to have some representation here, it's interesting to hear the `inside story'.
There's that old line about what something's worth; it's worth as much as somebody will pay for it. I don't see Red Baron as evil here for putting a high price on a bike; if somebody will pay that much for it, that's what it's worth. I feel the same way about offering somebody too low a price -- some people get upset and offended when people offer a ridiculously low price for a bike on Trademe, but a price is just a number -- something for both sides to agree on. If either of you are not happy with that number, then don't agree to it.
Um no,
was riding with a friend when he got caught being a dumbass in a 50k area (70K), cop pulled us over and while he wrote out the ticket.....stareing at the bog standard ZXR400 covered in typical Kawasaki stickers...asked "So this is a Suzuki aint it?" Never mind the fact that there were atleast 5 stickers along the side of the bike saying KAWASAKI, that you could see 10m away.
I kept my mouth shut to try and get my mate off the ticket - but he blurted out "No, its a Kawasaki" at which the cop then had to walk around the back of the bike and check the rego (which also said KAWASAKI).
Im not saying all cops are dim, im just saying that we need to lower the expectation bar if we expect more cops on the beet.
Reactor Online. Sensors Online. Weapons Online. All Systems Nominal.
I don't. If someone is prepared to carry $8500 into a shop and spend it on a bike without doing ANY research at all, fair play to the shop for taking advantage.
There's plenty of bike shops in town. If you want a bike, and you only walk into one shop, tough sh1t if you get stitched.
It's only when you take the piss out of a partially shaved wookie with an overactive 'me' gene and stapled on piss flaps that it becomes a problem.
Normally I have a pretty mercenary attitude to such things, but I don't like seeing young fellas getting stitched up.
I am a young fella, who paid too much on his first bike purchase. I should've paid two thirds of what I did, especially given the history of the bike.
However, if you've got that much money floating around that you can just drop it on a purchase like that without even the most cursory research, then either you've got enough money that it doesn't matter, or you're as thick as a board. Either way, Red Baron aren't evil.
Thing is, most young guys don't have that sort of money floating around, they end up financed to the hilt. Predatory pricing is evil, and I don't like it when it messes with young guys getting into the lifestyle. Sure, screw the older guys that should know better, but screwing young guys who dicks are driving them instead of their brains, is pretty callous. Wouldn't surprise me if that was a trade that they raped someone on, and now they're getting a second suck of the sav.
Yes we have on many occasions discussed about bike restrictions, laws ect. If someone was to read through all the brilliant suggestions from KB and put together a solid proposal and send it to "someone/somebody" who here has a feeling that something would be done about it ??
And who would you send it to? I know driving such law changes isn't an easy thing. I suppose a submission to LTSA, Ministry of .......... ? But don't you need backing of like a squillion billion people before anything is done about it? Not that it affects me personally, I will be getting my full soonbut to be perfectly honest NZ Motorbike laws are a bit of a joke. 10 years behind from UK US AUZ.
But then again just thinking about cage laws, which is my opinion is a pile of shit and if we had millions of pigs instead of sheep in this country, we could feed them all. Get your learners at 15.5, restricted at 16, do a defensive driving course and get your full at 17. Drink and drive a car full of drunken mates and kill them all and yourself at 18. In Auzzie in takes good 5 years before you get that blady gold licence!
So even after many people dying in cars in a year the fat lazy government hasn't changed the laws to fix the problem how and why would they change bike laws? We're blady only 10% or less on the roads compared to cagers! All they have done is run some half assed louzy campaigns on TV!
RANT OVER, IT'S YOUR TURN TO TALK SHIT NOW !![]()
