    Cheap NZ holiday spots

I'm taking annual leave from 20 August - 16 September and have no idea what to do with myself. This holiday has been a long time coming and if it wasn't a case of "take holidays now or wait another 12 months", I would've scheduled them for a sunnier and warmer season.

Does anyone have any suggestions for cheap (NZ) holiday spots, which are easy on the wallet?
Edit: I don't necessarily need to travel there on the bike - that's too damn cold!

Coromandel might be a good start. And hey while you're at it do the loop.

    Eketahuna is very reasonable.

Take a tour if you're biking. I'm looking forward to this Xmas & the first decent break I've been able to take in about 4 years. Hoping to head south... alone

    So where are you now?

I can suggest a few places, but dont want to suggest it if you live in Invercargill

And are you interested in camping/motels etc?

    Cheers

I'm in the lovely (sunny? pfft) Bay of Plenty! I'm more of a motel girl than a camper
