    Bears eligibility rules?

Is an MuZ660 Bears eligible, if so, for what classes?

an MuZ660 is a german (east?) make (so it is "european") but it uses a Yamaha XT660 motor motor: basically the same as in their XTZ660 motard/street bike.

Single cylinder 4 stroke 4 valve watercooled.

Can I use it in Bears F2? and MNZ F3?

Sure, it wont be fast but it should be nimble, and light... both good attributes to have esp on a tight track.

I asked Mr Google, but he didnt seem to know........

You'll have to ask the BEARS people, see MNZ website, regions, for contacts.

But I know they turn down Aprilia 250's cos the bottom half of the motor is made by Suzuki. This probably sets the rule for your motor origin.

I'm 90% sure you won't be allowed to race it. I think its engine and frame that need to be non-asian in manufacture, might be suspension too but not sure. Oyster is exactly right, they won't let aprilia RS250's race cause they have a RGV250 engine.

And the only Bimota's you'll see out there are the Ducati powered ones, though you could probably race a vdue if you're brave enough....

Henry, I would have to agree with the others; the bears club will need to decide wether it is 'european' enough, but i wouldn't hold my breath. They won't let a Apprilia RS 250 race, but thats probably primarly for the reason that it would wipe the floor in super lights and street stocks, thus upsetting everyone who still beats an old Ducati 400/500SS around.

My Uncle in Holland raced the MuZ 660 Scorpion Sport. Back about ten or more years ago when they came out, the MuZ factory sponsored machines for a one make race series that raced at select circuits around europe to support the Ducati and SOS races (sound of singles). The only mods they could make was pipe, jets and fork internals from memory. Made for some great races and my uncles most lasting memory was beating Allan Catcart (the motorcycling journo) I was over there for a summer when he was racing and went to crew at some of the meets. he liked the bike, it was a good platform for a entry level racer. fun bike with mellow power.

    Eric

PS. coming to think of one make race series, the new Pro Tiwns in NZ will essentially offer that too. So I know it will be a bit more pricey but you'll prob have more fun by purchasing an new SV of Suzuki NZ and joining in on that. Be a more competive ride too.

PSS; dude you could always grind the yamaha logo out of the alternator cover, the MuZ are a little know machine so you could get away with that for a while, hehehe...

It's primarily due to the fact that they basically run a Suzuki RGV motor that it isn't eligible

Yeah right you are Kickaha. I suppose its the bears meets and they can run their own race series as they like and make the rules. It is their club afterall. But in the bigger picture, wouldn't it be great if they let more of the 'italian' and 'euro' bikes run? I mean the RS is as Italian as it gets (apart from them cutting some development corners and using a tried and trued engine design and then making it there own and stamping their own Aprillia flavour all over it). And henry's MuZ would make a great addition to the Bears racing scene and grid numbers. Its all about getting together and racing, right? A RS cup at a bears meets anyone? what a cool addition.
Food for though for the Bears guys.
    Regards
    Eric

PS. on second thought; gets a bit hard dont it. I mean where do you draw the line? Bimota with a hard charching inline four in it..??... I suspect they have probabaly considered this as a committee before and made the call: Bears only. Much simpler to administer.

Eggzachery. As I said on another forum, if they allowed BEARS bikes with non BEARS engines in, then waaaaay back in 1990 they would have had to allow bikes like the Bimota Tuatara in. Look at the specs on that puppy- it was well ahead of its time.

BEARS are a joke. Always makes me chuckle seeing a big, ugly bloke who owns a Harley with Showa suspension and a Mikuni carburettor deriding all things Japanese.. You can see scene this at ANY bears meeting.
