do you think you have to many friends

i have been reading some of the shit written here about clubs and officals,

i write this as someone who has raced, has protested races, has put up $500 and appealed a stupid decision, who bothers to go to mnz conferences, who is a club president, who has been clerk of the course at national events, been a steward at reginal championships, been interveiwed by the police and coroner when a rider died at an event i was in charge of. i know what i am talking about.

If any of you think you can do a better job, get off your fat asses and off the interent and get down and help a club, you will not get paid, after a while and you get put in postion you will get yelled at by someone that thinks they have been sinned against, if you make call you will be screwed over about it, if you do not you will also be screwed over, basically you will be a cunt if you do or do not do anything,

and then, after you spend weeks of unpaid work, trying to put an event on for the enjoyment of others, and not even getting the pleasure riding in the event, some homo's on the internet will run you down for the weeks following.

Then if anything major goes wrong you will be held responsible by the police, and maybe even face Jail,

sound like fun, are you joining the line to sign up for these jobs, because that is how they are deceded, thier is know election, because you need candidates for an election, some one has to volunteer, or get coerrced into it by one of thier friends,

in short, get off you asses, and help make the sport better, do not sit in here and winge about it,

rant over, back to your usual programming

    Well written, and thankyou.

I feel guilty for having a hand in the web site bashings, that have been going on lately.

For my part, I will not be getting involved in these kind of issues any more.

Cheers Scott, But some wankers still wont get it.
The ones that think loading a bike on a trailer on the day & driving 100km is a big effort mainly.
I watched Andy Scrivener stress out for weeks & spend thousands of dollars of his own money to run the Taupo RRS & then some wanker had a swear at him at sign in because he would only be getting one ride that day, due to a lack of a bears class that the bears guys had promised to over subscribe the previous year (& four turn up this year).
Its so easy to run a meeting that im surprised that some of the mouthy critical wankers that are so vocal on here dont run their own meetings, then they could arrange the grids to suit themselves & they wouldnt need to pay to race or anything, Almost too good to be true.
C'mon guys, put your money up & we will all show up, Just be sure to run a sidecar class.

    Hi Scott,

glad you have got that off your chest,!

not sure if I know were its come from, I think I can guess, there is some sense in what you written, however on a more personal note, while I don't doubt you may have been on the reciving end of a bit of shit, I see and hear the other side of the story.

The work that you do, and have done in the past for Off road motorcycling in the Franklin district and beyond is well known, your name is mentioned on many ocasions and always in good light, take heart in the fact that people do appeciate the work you and others do (even if they don't say so)

I have also been on the end of a bit of shit durning my time at woodhill (5years), but the good comments always outweight the bad stuff.

Please keep doing what you do, but maybe share the load if you can, you are without a doubt a good cunt, in fact my only negative point about you is that fact you tired to sell me a gxxer last year

So ,from one of the many who know the work you have done for motorcycling
in Franklin (and beyond) Thanks Mate !!!!!

    regards

im not going to give up doing what i do anytime soon, it was not about me, you are right the good comments keep you going, and constructive critism is a good thing,

the slagging off in some of other threads needed to be called out, i know some of the guys that run these events, and they do not need it, or deserve it, i just wanted to point out that these guys were fellow riders that run events for little or no reward, accept the odd pat on the back and if they are alucky a few cold ones after, that what my rant was about,

and F/F, you can;t blame a man for trying to sell suzuki's when you can;t source a green one, you gotta eat at times,

also new extension start soon, have you noticed MR Crispe has moved out!!

Fair point Scott, I can only guess this is directed at me perhaps.

I've followed the correct channels for my (and others) complaint. We were told to piss off without so much as an apology by race officials on the day and I've yet to hear back from MNZ.

As a president of an active club, you're no doubt aware there are certain procedures to running a meeting. These procedures were not followed.

How would you feel turning up to watch your favourite riders race in what is effectively a rigged meeting? I wanted the people who paid their 25 bucks at the gate to know what actually goes on behind the scenes.

trash to be honest it was more directed at some of the tone of the reponses rather than your words, i just put another angle on it,

i am no way saying that every decision that is made is the right, or fair, or will it ever be, but the attacks do not make it better, but i do not beleive any of the people that where their officating would knowinly 'rig' a race, as for putting them to the front of the grid, i agree with you, i would have made them start from thier qualifing spots, but some of the attacks are just out of order,

and i everytime i have relagated or penalised a rider they have claimed innocents, and the fact that 'everyone else does it' or no one else pulls it up' to the just your a plain wanker and jsut don;t like me, its a tough road to walk,

Nah sweet as mate, I completely see where you're coming from in this respect. I've no doubt no one intentionally set out to rig the racing in this case, it's just what it feels like.

For example, I had three people approach me in the pits saying they'd expected to see me closer to the front. That kinda winds ya up a bit.

I've also wittnessed riders bitching at officials when they've done wrong and I aggree, it certainly aint pretty. The difference with this particular occasion is that two thirds of the field were affected.

Anyways, I might stop by see ya soon for an RMZ when this Tar Baby shit grows tiresome

well said Scott, concisely and accurately put ! Have been wondering how long I could read some of the posts on a couple of these threads without getting pissed off enough to wade into the debate myself .......

As one who shares your background, I too find it hard to comprehend how little some of these guys actuallly understand about the sport ( and thats exactly what it IS, a SPORT, and all sports need rules/referees etc to enable the guys out there "having fun" to do so )

THere appears to be a sad lack of CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, most threads degenerate within a couple of posts into some sort of electronic mutual masturbation society .... my laptop must have come without the "extra" equipment that makes posting on this site more fun than riding / racing. I for one get more kicks out of scaring myself riding than fiddling with a mouse.

Seems to me theres enough posters out there who are all in agreement that the sky is falling, to actually get together and RUN a Race Meeting or two, I'm sure by the time the 23rd snivelling malcontent has gone through sign-in THEY'LL feel like telling the next complainer to "go forth and multiply".
Sure there'd be a few guys you could think of keen to line up to compete at SOMEONE ELSES meeting, and want it all their own way too, just 'cos they could for a change

Keep up the good work ..........

    Hi ya,

Wife replying all duck for cover! We too have been through a former racer dying at the track as hubby was Clerk of the Course, things and after match are not nice. The Scene was a horror and god forbid will always remain in our minds at the scene and hearts that lived through it. My Hubby would not hold our child or even look at our child afterwards because he had failed to keep everyone safe within the rules and this extended to our family life. We lived the life of hell for a year, media on the phone, me getting caught in the supermarket and yelled at and we had put our hands up we got off our butt and did good for the sport and still to this day we are still doing good for the sport but we can't live a day without the reminder of the death as it comes back to haunt us in some form. I'm bitching because there are rules and these should be adhered to and no matter who you are it should not make a difference! If someone died at wanganui qualifying in the wet balls to the wall to get a good place when guys sitting in a dry tent take their position wot justice is that and wot's that proving and where is the rules. I have to support MNZ when we went through our horror time they were amazing but to make the sport fair and enjoyable it has to come down to united riders and MNZ plus event organisers at the end of the day no event can survive without the racers, put your foot down united and make it happen together rather than bitching.

Good comments scott. I gave up road racing years ago. I then started out in off road competition and attended many events in the franklin and wider auckland area. All I can say is that the off road events always seemed better organised and friendlier than the road race events. Plus for a lot less outlay you got alot more riding and fun. I have had problems with MNZ in the past though the individual clubs had nothing to do with this. Only trail ride for fun now. Keep up the good work.
