Nah - you shouldn't have to remove links as you need to add two teeth on the rear sprocket, so it has a marginally bigger sprocket to go around. You could drop one tooth on the front sprocket, but it's harder on the chain, as it has to go around a tighter bend.
I went down one tooth on the front sprocket (just hacksawed it off....) and once the chain had stretched a bit, I cut 2 links out of the chain, which just worked, with the rear axle nearly as far forward as it could go. (Note that I wasn't too concerned about fookin the chain, as it's some weird brand I couldn't get a rivet link for, so I'm not overly concerned if it dies.)
With adding two teeth (you can borrow the one I sawed off, then you just need one more to glue on), this will shorten the wheelbase a little. If it bothers you doing too many wheelies, then you could add two links to the chain to shift it back again, but this isn't usually necessary, as the change in rear sprocket diameter isn't too dramatic.
