I reckon a great bike friendly pub becomes a bit of a destination in itself. Especially if you started to collect biking memorabilia. I love looking at that sort of stuff.

If you could handle small town life, which is my idea of a good time but not everyones I'd admit, then a pub/cafe/hotel in somewhere like Ross would be the duck's guts.

Gwarn!! Give it a go!!! Plus your nameless birdie could become a pub attraction.

would anyone else? or would you stop in tokititi anyway, as per "normal"?

A couple of summers ago we rode so slowly down the West Coast (enjoying the scenery and taking s'loads of pics) we decided to extend the trip by over-nighting in Ross. Never regretted a minute, neat wee place. We ate at the Empire (I think that's the name), great food, reas' price etc. My other half spotted a B&B on the right as you come into town, Mill Cottage or something. We thought it would be an annex to their house but it's the whole house next door! Forty bucks a head, brekkie in the fridge, wicked value I reckon. Parked the bikes out the back, out of sight. We've told friends who've ridden the route and they stayed there too, happy-as.

We'll go back when we're based south of Cook Strait.
