Its not like they are going to run out of grip! TT900's and others are more than sufficient(sp?).

Then if it does rain, theres nothing to worry about.
grip isn't only required for power, these bike probably corner faster than most of the F3 bikes etc

    One reason.

    Entry level class.

    young people with NO money..

    Cheap second hand 125 slicks..

More than sufficient than a $600 set of TT900s

    Common sense, YES

Then dont use TT's, use another brand. Slicks are not needed for those bikes. Only create problems like the class is having now.

You give me an example of a race competent set or tyres under $150?

It's all about cost, and I know from experience, that the slicks are far far safer in the wet than say a tyre like a conti-city, or even an Pirelli MT-75 (I don't care how high ivan rates them!)

I know this from first hand experience.

    Problems?

Sparky, what problem did you have in mind? As far as we know, at least down here in the South, Streetstock has an excellent safety record, is producing good young riders and growing steadily. This is why the riders and supporters are puzzled. They feel there's nothing broken so why all the effort to fix it. The REAL worry is a change to the rules could easily make safety go backwards.
The official line is Slicks, even grooved ones are dangerous and illegal. So why are they legal and safe in Young Junior Road Race, Miniature Road Race and F3?

    So i didnt crash,

Im still telling you that MT-75s are NOT a good tyre in the wet. very very poor wet grip. Ok in the dry.. but worse wet grip than a slick

Battleaxes are also very expensive, and the race compound ones are hard to find..

None of the current conti tyres are anywhere near what i would class as a safe race tyre!

Oh dear, 250 Production all over again.
Lowish cost, entry class with good bikes that one can race and race safely with little experience. GRP fairings and jetting, only changes allowed.
Oh, OK, now you can change the gearing.
Oh, OK, now you can use slick tyres and flash suspension.
Oh, OK, now you can change and tune the engine internals as long as it looks standard.
Oh, OK, now you can do what you like as long as it is not as fast as a 400cc F3 bike.
Oh, OK, now it is too dear for anyone to do, so the class is canned.

Stuck record? What change is next for Streetstock?

Nope. my whoops had nothing to do with grooves (or lack of) It had to do with white paint and a brand new tyre

Nah Pete, that was the 250 Proddy lifecycle. Would not be much fun to see Streetstock go down a similar route.

    Cheers.
