hey is there actually a reason we're leaving shannon at 9? we dont HAVE to all be up that early do we? racing usually starts at about 11-11:30? (i might be way off there)

i'm not bugged...just wondering...but the poor buggers coming from wellington having to get up at 6ish to ride on winter roads.....why not leave it til 9:30-10? (and 86 will appreciate it too)

Not sure if there were any other poor buggers from Wellington - but I figure it's a Manawatu ride, and if I'm going to join in I'll join on your terms. And the earlier you/we leave, the further we can go, or the earlier we can get there and (presumably) wander round the pits etc. Admittedly this means I might not make it - hell, I haven't yet made it for a 10am Sunday ride from Upper Hutt - but so be it.

one of the guys is partner of one of my old teamies .. talked to him at work do last weekend .. both him & his mate have only just gotten into bikes last few months, both on learners & not been out on main highways yet .. or know how to corner, both been mostly riding round town

photocopied article outta the book for them .. kinda know how they feel .. be the first set of major cornering they gonna do ..

Karori. Yes, an hour and a half sounds about right - I rode to Palmy last Friday after work, which was about two and a half including a stop for hot chocolate at a service station in Levin. So I figured lop 15 min off because Shannon isn't that far out of Palmy, right? Then add in a bit of spare in case I get caught in traffic (streams of race bikes on trailers etc) or road works, or need to stop for hot chocolate earlier to thaw out ... and because I never leave on time anyway. So two and a half sounded about right.
