Given the timings, if he was in a 70mph zone, he's still doing 100mph+ over the speed limit. I reckon he'll get 3 months PD, 12 months disqualification, and they'll end up scraping him off the side of the road in 2 months time after he gets blown off the road by a cross wind at 150+.

Incidentally, this happened to me when I was young, dumb and full of c*m just south of Taupo. First time I'd been up to 200kph and the last. Bugger me that was scary.

Yeah, I've seen that in Victoria.
    ... and that's what I think.

Hell, if I was the dude I would have taken it on the chin, the 'legend' status would be priceless.
Possibly he was not doing that speed, but even if he was 'only' doing 175mph I dare say the penalty would not be any less.

205 mph!! Even the genetically enhanced 999 04s that the Fila boys ride in the World Ducati Championships can't top 200, so I'm somewhat surprised that the HP chappies are risking making themselves look stupid.

Still it would make a good story if you were the rider. Noe perhaps my GS will be able to get to 150.

I think what we're forgetting here is that it happened in America. Determination of speeding seems rather reminiscint of finding water with a witching stick and I suspect the penalties might be the same.

Also remember that the HP boys from down on the farm in the States probably aren't the kinda guys that read up on Nietzche, Aristotle and have a stunning command of geography or any event that occurs south or north of their county boundary... I think Insular is the word I'm looking for! Whether a race or road bike can actually do 205 mph probably didn't even entire their inevitably dense skulls.

On a similar note, if you saw Top Gear last night, Jeremy Clarkson did a drag run between the lights in a Ford GT down a main street in Detroit. He stated after the piece had run that he had a bunch of cops following his film crew in case someone took a shot at them (most dangerous city in the world apparently) but when he did that, they were sitting watching him and didnt bat an eyelid.

Too much paperwork to book a foreigner?

    Yup, that he did.
And that he expected them to arrest him.
But they just sat there, eating their donuts.
It was interesting too, that he was driving on the wrong side of the road for a while, and passing on the Double Yeller everywhere (not hard to do, as they have them nearly everywhere).

And he wets his pants over a car at least 5 secs slower to 160 than a sportbike.
    Good old Jeremy.
He doesn't like 5th Gear much either. They must remind him of when Top Gear was cutting edge. When Tiff could drift anything without constantly looping it.

The only TV I watch is my motorsport on 1 on sunday afternoon channel hopping to the WRC on 3 and then Top Gear on Prime.
I try and watch 5th Gear but I keep forgetting to get back in time.
It needs to be on later.
