Arrow The NZ national anthem as sung at the Netball - 21/7/07

Check out this link at TVNZ:
    http://tvnz.co.nz/view/sport_sub_cat...ll_index_group

Then look for this on the left hand side and click on it:
Re-live that 'unique' national anthem (1:45)
Could this be the reason for the Ferns' slow, stuttering start on Saturday? Listen again to a quite 'unique' rendition of our national song...

This how NOT to sing the New Zealand National Anthem.
Totally out of tune and a shocking way to sing our anthem.

This need to be put up on YouTube.... but not sure how to do it...

    Arrgghh!!

That was awful - pretty embarrassing for the singer. I feel sorry for her, I wonder if it was a really bad case of stage fright or if it's a case of political correctness gone mad?

Normally they have some up and coming young opera singer, don't they?

Margaret Maru the singer in question, was wearing full maori costume... and had a moko on her chin.... not sure if it was put on with a vivid or if it was a real tattoo.

The lady who sung the aussie national anthem was a good looking blonde
    and could sing.......

Surely they did a check before just letting her out on stage! I can do about the same if not better than that.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

It is entirely inappropriate for any australian to know the words to the national anthem.

We wanted Waltzing Matilda with a tweak to the lyrics, but the stupid govt gave us 'Straylians Girt by (^&@#()@*^% sea.'

Subsequently we hum the tune indifferently.

Amazing what a bit of racially motivated job selection will get you eh. Could have had some one who could sing, but thats not for us eh?
Surely out of all the Maori singers knocking around NZ, we could have found a decent one?
