My oldest (18yo) tells me that when he takes off on his NZ250 she hesitates.
"No worries" I say, "we should probably have a look at the carbi. Perhaps adjusting the needle up a notch might fix it?".
"Cool" he says, "can we look at that today?"
"No sweat" I say. "As soon as we get back from your soccer we get stuck in. Only take us 1/2 hour".
So we get back from his soccer, I change clothes, grab a sandwich and a cuppa. Then I get stuck in. I am interested in fixing the problem.
While I have the carbi off I also fix the choke that had a problem with not staying out.
Two beers, 2 hours later (I fixed a few other things to, as you do, while sitting otside in the HB winter sun of 20 degrees...) it is all done. Now we should have a test ride to se if the problem is sorted.
As on que he appears, says: "I fell asleep..."
"All OK" I say. "U wanna take her for a test ride and see if the problem is sorted."
Off he goes. Comes back and says: "Yep, all sweet!"
I say: "You can put the side covers back on"
"OK" He says, and gets stuck in.
"Why do you still have the helmet on?" I ask.
"Oh" he says. "Mark just texted me, I am shooting over to his place"
He gets his bag and mounts the bike.
He says: "Dad, can you wash my black T as I need it for work tonight, it is on the floor in my room..."
"No sweat" I say.
"C U" He says and takes off.
What he does not know is that this is all part of my plan.
When all four have moved out and I have made sure they have good jobs and good incomes and they live in four parts of the world I will sell everything I have and travel. I will spend 3 months of each year at each ones place (As I make sure they spread out evenly so there is always summer somewhere). They will all have a decent bike for me to ride.
And I have decided to live until I am 99...
