If its cheap generally its for a reason eh.
If you import a Alpinestar suit yes great quality no problems there, but you do pay a margin for the name also.
I might have sounded arrogant earlier sorry but it worries me that some people bring in crap and sell it as top quality, this trader advertises Retail on his gear and prices like $549 for a leather Jacket, problem is it isnt sold as retail anywhere in NZ so how is this figured out, it also implies its top spec and it isnt ( I assure you )
Most of the sellers on TM buy from traders, not the factory, they have little or no ability to specify anything, trust me I know, I spent a week over there last month and was horrified as to some of the practices, for example, not closing of the stitiching, lying and falsifying CE certificates, using copy fabrics like cordura and saying its genuine etc etc etc, low grade Buffalo leather but saying its Cowhide top grade etc etc etc

mate buy what you want, but Im saying be careful, it matters alot when you fall of.

I have and will replace in not too long a fairly low(ish) priced set of touring gear by Spool, now I am not bothered all that much in spending $350 to $400 on a jacket and around the same on matching pants. I have fallen off in this suit (the jacket obviously enough needed replacing afterwards) at a decent clip and can say comfortably that had I done that in the suit I'd owned prior to this, that suit would not have stood up to it, as general wear like commuting between home and university was resulting in torn stitching. I would advise to set a budget for decent quality gear that isn't too difficult to replace and what's more does its job at around that level. You are playing with the likes of DriRider, Ixor and others at this price bracket and to be honest, the quality is definitly there. Once you can afford more then pay more if you so wish. Still I would recommend working through a dealer that has a physical shop so you can try on the gear and know that it's comfortable before you buy, uncomfortable gear is hell, it took me two helmets to get that right!

As I suspected, I knew that gear was crapola, I have Alpinestars leathers and Teknic fabric stuff as well as a BMW rainsuit, quality!!
