    Righty ho, now what...

Hi ya'll, after a long time of the idea in the back of my head about racing i've decided that i should really get some details about classes/registration stuff and just go from there.

At the moment my only option is to ride the GPX250 i've got, (which i've done several track days on ok) and yes i know it's definatly not the most competative option. However, do i need to fully remove all the road gear on it? (which i'll probably do anyway) and are road tyres legal? (battlax Bt45 F&R)

I was Previously a member of the pacific club for bucket racing which i gave up a year or so ago, so i think my membership has expired now. My MNZ licence has also lapsed.

    What licencing do i require?

Can i enter in any event (correct class) and just buy a day licence?

Am i required to register at the begining of a season or can i register and qualify at the beginning of any meeting?

Any help would be appreciated or just flick on a post with link would be much appreciated.

    Cheers
    Paddy

    Sweet Paddy.
If you were going to give the Actrix Winter Series a go click here to get to the Victoria Club Site. You will need to be a member of a MNZ affiliated club. I think day licences are available (not sure of cost) but if you are planning on doing more than two meetings a MNZ club licence will be a better option, but it will need to be a Vic Club one. The best class is likely to be Streetstock. In theory, you can ride to the track on your bike. Tape up the glass, remove number plate(?) mirrors and indicators. Wire-up or remove sidestand and your away. You will need proper safety gear including back protector. There is a pretty good sticky here on KB on what you need for racing.
You will need to pre-enter at least a week before the race meeting.
    See you out there.

    Cheers Cliv,
yea i just had a chat to Jay online and he was saying pretty much that. considering my pacific membership has lapsed and i know moreguys in the vic club then i think thats where i should register. I've got all the decent riding leather etc and that so i think its more simple than i'd first thought. Had a look at the vicpage and it talks about standard exhausts apart from crash damage? i've got a stainless 2 into one pipe fitted from the original headers back as the original twin pipes spat the dummy (Holes). Is this something thats pretty much waived unless someone is getting some obvious advantage?

The pipes shouldn't be a problem. The only cheat worth doing on a GPX might be a 400cc engine swap.

I can't help but have visions of a cart-wheeling bike's numberplate slicing my fingers off. Shit that's paranoid. Better take my pills.

In terms of saving weight, although the gpx could do with everything imaginable removed i dont think it's gonna have much of an effect if its stil draggin my guts around.

    sooo... no sharp pokey stuff

Anyone got any spare GPX plastics? coz the lights in the tail fairing are all built in... ($$/Beer negotiable )

    Eunuch anyone?
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
