    Think of the big picture

Oye guys - Lay off ZRXER

The Coro Loop often brings out the best and the worst in riders.

Like ZRXER I too have organised a few rides around the area. It is a proper nightmare co-ordinating groups and as a ride organiser you always feel responsible for everyone on the ride.

In the end this is his private ride, not a public service. If he wants to limit numbers to make the logistics of the situation more manageable, then I say, "good on him".

Nah if he's realy good he can tell me this to my face instead of the relative safety of the armchair infront of the computer.

    right you lot!!!

Lets just establish what this is all about for a moment. We have a ride advertised for this Saturday. It is something of a "signature" ride in these parts. It involves a ride around the Coromandel Peninsular, it is open to all comers. So far so good.

I am reading so many posts from fellow members advocating be safe, ride your own ride, fuck off if you think anything else is acceptable, it will be fine, this ride is closed, kind of posts it is obvious there are some concerns. Lets face it the KB community have lost some much loved members not so long ago on this ride, and it has cost many others $$$$ in repairs. And there is a desire in some to PROVE they have balls.......in my experience most lads do, you dont have to prove it

There are experienced, skillfull riders out there that might do this ride shit loads faster than most, there are experienced fast, riders that will do this ride and get away with any mistakes they may make. There are others that will ride outside their ability trying to prove them selves to ???????????????

I currently ride pillion and have done this loop the figure of 8 way once. Had a lovely ride, tho parts of that coast road can get stuffed!!! We dont ride fast, but that is ok! Important to mention it is OK! Never been more than teased for it and would like to think respected for it.

FWIW all you gungho testosterone (experienced in some instances) laden riders can stay at home.

lol.. good ol' kb.. not quite like the old days, but if you squint, turn your head to the side and change the contrast on your monitor, it could almost be it..

you do know more will turn up than 'just registered'..?? just happens. For one, I was going to be coming, but didn't know there was a registry. So since I've already planned it, I'm gonna be going anyway, with or without a 'group' and no doubt I'll just catch up. But hey, takes half a second to create another thread for a ride same day same time..
just roll with it, get hints n tips from those with knowledge and experience of said events (plenty of us around), and ye shall be fine. it's just about structure, taking charge, and being in command. Think of bikers like lemmings. Lead, and they will follow. Get lost and they crash. Not so much for those with experience, cos the older lemmings just go do their own thing. The group will naturally split into the slower / mediumish / faster groups anyway, cos thats how it works. Just make sure you know where you're going, and if you're not sure/the faster, then get someone who does/is to lead, and make sure at junctions you use the second bike buddy system so everyone knows where they're going.

End of the day, it's not a race blah blah, but people are riding their own bikes. They stack it, it's their problem and fault. No one is timing shit, so don't waste your breath. If it wasn't on this that they'd crash, it'd be somewhere else. Just happens. get over it, and really dude, don't panic.

Dude, thats a bit rough... I signed up (although I never checked to ensure I was still on there) but I would ride with ya. Of course that would limit you to an extremely "Medium" pace.

You'd think though that with as many people signed up we couldnt lose lose groups from either side of us.

I'll send for my missus. She dragged me out to Port Waikato with the kids in tow last weekend to recover a binned CBR. Last weekend she was out on the bike and I was home with the littlies.
