Infact once i get them to fix it or give my money back i will make a nice little post on who they are and advise people never to take there things there.

Chill dude--I know its a pain in the ass but it is the weekend. The issue you are talking about is almost definitely not life threatening. You have it nailed -the threads have stripped out and the locating pin is busted.
You can still ride the bike. Its not affecting the brakes or throttle or clutch.
If its who I think it is you are dealing with -Call them tomorrow ask fior the owner -BE CALM- tell them it IS an issue with a brand new bike and tell them you want it fixed
You are establishing what may be a long term relationship with these guys and they are a lot more helpfull if you use diplomacy
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?

You have every right to be peeved! This sort of totally sloppy customer service is becoming the norm in our society today. Get your bike back, hopefuly with a few vouchers for accessories to compensate you for your distress. Sit yourself down and write a formal letter to the owners of this business, explain exactly what happened, your contact with their staff and the responses you got. Give them an opportunity to review it for themselves. In my experience nothing will change if you simply whine to your mates about it, but certainly something will if you put it in writting and make them pay attention. Best of luck! Crap that you have had a bumpy start to your new bike, but it will be worth it I am sure. Keep us posted!

As much as I symphatise with you, I would recommend that you learn how to fix things your self. I do not think I have ever got someone to take something back because it had a loose screw... Fit a self tapper, use a tap to make a new thread and fit a new screw, put in some thread mend or whatever is needed to do.

Now being a owner of a bike you will need the skills...

    Good Luck.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

^ +1 for the above. But you must understand that it's a brand new bike, and sprag has no previous [fixing] experience, so he might not want to fuck around with it. Also, it's on the sellers to sort this shit out especially when things start going wrong when the bike is so 'young'.

The bit isn't a screw on the Hyosung, it is a bump on the front part of the case that the throttle cable is in, once it is snapped off the thing might just twist instead of accellerating and also stick open potentially. Also as it's brand new he shouldn't really have to go tapping holes in anything whether he can/can't/does or doesn't have the tools or know how. They could at the least just made a 2 minute phone call and kissed some ass then he probably wouldn't have started this thread.

I am glad you worked it out in the end.

I was nearly going to say that you just bought yourself a useless mango.

Dude glad you got it fixed... pity I didn't see this thread earlier...

the same happened on mine... simple fix was to wrap two layers of insulation tape around the bar... hasn't moved since... and yeah it happened after I loosened the switch assembly to adjust it..

Thats good that you are getting it fixed............

My partner took my bike into a shop to get it serviced, when it was picked up they charged me $500 for a full service and said the had checked everything and was running fine. I spewed at the cost

TOok it to get a warrant 2 days afterwards, failed on a loose chain, something the shop said they had tightened.

A week later I was having problems starting it (the main reason it went into the shop in the first place). My partner took it back and they said that they new it wasnt running great when we took it, and thats what we get for buying a cheap import. Wouldnt look at it without charging us more money.
FUCKERS they are a suzuki dealer, they specialise in cheap imports. Wont go there ever again.

Mentioned in the previous posts that a big part of motorcycling is also being able to understanding and perform basic service techniques. Personally I get a fantastic satisfaction from self-servicing my own bike as I am always learning new and exciting things.

It's like building a relationship, the more I learn about my bike, the greater the relationship. And the better the relationship, better the chance of me spotting a problem early.

I love just looking and sussing out how my bike works and where everything is and what it does. Adjusting chain, oil changes, plugs, getting the foot and hand controls just right etc.

The big BUT here is they had already paid for this stuff to be done! Even though I am happy doing all the general stuff I get everything looked at when I have the big service (timing chain tensioners, inside of the heads cleaned etc) done I ask them to check everything else too AND give an itemised receipt. Helps my peice of mind and is great to have if I want to sell it. When a mechanic costs anywhere from $60/h up it's not going to be cheap. I don't think fireliv is complaining at all about the cost, just about not getting what they paid for. If the shop thinks basic maintainance is a prerequisite of bike ownership they 1). should sell bikes to people who can't maintain them or 2). should charge for things they assume the customer has already done thenselves.

I've said it before. $1 = 1 vote, make yourself heard!

Exactly. Because I had just brought it and because of a incident in wellington when my bike wouldnt start on the day we were moving to Christchurch, I decided to get it completely checked out. The cost was a little bit higher than I thought, but I did get a complete 2 page list of what was supposedly done and the fact that I dont know whether that was good bad or otherwise, I accepted the price.

However, you would think that after $500 the chain would at least be the right tightness, and that it would start as they said it would. I paid for it to work. Phoenix tightened the chain for me, and has sorted out an oil problem they overlooked, and its working ok, but like Pancakes said, its not the point.
