Saturday 28 July BuckBuckNo1’s Cruisie Ride – Around Wellington Harbour and Bays

Well the long range forecast for this Sunday is not looking too good. So, I am kicking around a cruisie ride for 250cc riders, and anyone else of course who may want to join in.

Gathering Point 1.
Rimutex 10.00am for 10.15 departure:

SH2 south then left at traffic lights up and over Mangaroa Hill.

Out around Mangaroa Valley and right at Mangaroa Valley/Whitemans Valley intersection and up over Wallaceville Hill.

Down back of Trentham Camp and then left before rail crossing and through Silverstream under rail bridge and rejoin SH2.
SH2 to Kennedy Goode Bridge and Avalon Duckpond

Gathering Point2 [ Duckpond Approximately 11am departure]
Avalon – SH2 south to – Kaiwharawhara exit.

Gathering Point3 [Kaiwharawhara Caltex Approximately 11.20 departure]
Waterloo and Jervois Quay, Cable Street and then along Oriental Bay

Gathering Point4 [End of Oriental Bay at start of Evans Bay 11.35 departure]

Keeping harbour and bays on our left all the way around to Happy Valley and up over Brooklyn Hill. [There will be a stops at Scorching Bay and Island Bay to regroup.]

I am thinking perhaps to then continue on up to the Windmill above Brooklyn,,,,consensus on the day.

Also no firm plans for place to eat … open to suggestions on the day.

I noticed a good place to eat on the corner at the main traffic light intersection in Brooklyn.

Have a bit on this weekend but will try and get there!!! Haha Mrs wannabiker folks here this weekend and she has to play host!! Does the brass monkey (?) cafe still exist. Along the waterfront just before you head up Happy valley. Or theres that one in Scorching bay that has the outside dining across the road. Ooops gotta go Mrs w coming....

That cafe still exists ... food is not as good as it was with the first owners

Having never been on a KB ride and not able to make the Sunday rides (my wife works Sundays) I would have loved to do this one. . . .. but the boy has footie at 11.00am and then I've got to drop him at a birthday after. Maybe next time.

Great ride today guys. Wasn't sure what to expect being my first group ride but I had fun.

Thankfully the weather held out until the end, although I did get pelted by some rain leaving Wellington. Was nice to get home to the sunny Kapiti Coast...
