The full track is a tempting proposition.

good to hear some of you helping with the likes of marshalling, a huge problem with trying to run race meetings is trying to get the helpers required, the more helpers there are the better it'll be.

great to see good on those of you willing to put a bit back into the sport

My guess is that offers to marshall are only useful in half-day doses. There isn't the time to take people out for 1 or 2 sessions then pick them up again. Best check with Manfield though.

Great!! I thought that the less changing around of marshalls the more track time for those racing. Assuming this is all going to work, what time do we need to be there Friday morning? We're leaving Auck after work on Thursday, stopping in Taupo, then the rest of the way in the morning...... And Duckaddict is coming with me, so hopefully he will volunteer to partner Luke!

So what's the verdict on this? Pretty likely that we'll be able to get some time on the long track? Need to confirm with the motel if I'm staying on the Thursday.

From the horses mouth so to speak:
"If we have enough volunteers on the day, we probably could run on the full 4.5km circuit, but when we talk volunteers they need to A) be familiar with Manfeild B) able to use a 2 way radio C) ability to access a situation descriptively yet calmly.

If we had enough ‘man power’ then we would be happy to run the motorcycles on the long circuit. Would need to know prior to the test day if people were available to help.

    Hope this helps

    Steph"
Which matches exactly what you said Nicki. No indication there though of how many they would require.

I just called this Steph lady.

She said that they need 4-5 volunteers (on top of their regular staff) if the long track is to be used.

So, if we have 8 of us who can give up half a day to hold a flag and a radio, and watch out for their fellow muppets, we'd be sweet.

Ofcourse less are needed if anyone can convince their girlfriend/boyfriend to stand out in the cold all day and watch bikes fly around the track (I'm not even gonna bother asking).

So there you have it. I'll happily give up half of my test day.

Who else can commit to providing help on the day?

I will definitely be there if the long track is opened. I also have a friend (true), that is checking to see if he can take leave on the friday so he can come do a half day flag marshalling.
