    Police investigate YouTube blind eye

Sorry if this is a repost (searched and all)...

Police are investigating claims that an officer turned a blind eye to an English tourist clocked at 161kmh on the Desert Road after footage was posted on internet site YouTube.
    http://www.stuff.co.nz/4163569a11.html

Who are these plonkers posting video evidence of rare police benevolence??? IF the video is in fact genuine... Idiots!

On one very rare occasion, some years ago now, I was thrilled to be the benificiary of police amnesty for trangressing against a certain posted limit.

Why didn't these guys just count their lucky stars and keep it hush?

Acts like this mean the rest of us all lose as Police clamp down and book us proper 'by the book' for our, occasional, slip-ups...

    Grrr...
    Keep it rubber-side down...

Bloody idiots, screw it up for the rest of us. Mind you that was one hell of a let off, 161 in a 100 zone.

Nope. The driver wont lose his licence now that he's safely back home in the UK. They were Brit. tourists shown a bit of Kiwi kindness by a friendly Cop. Instead of appreciating his good nature they have possibly ruined the Copper's career and any chance for the rest of us every getting let off. Pricks.

Not bad. My best was 180+ in an 80 zone (was no 100 zone back then)

    yep,

Top regional cop was on media saying that he would be repremanding said officer. We have often criticised police for not using discretion. Now this is a good indication as to why they will not.

What a couple of losers posting that...

My best was getting away completely. Through the pedestrian tunnel under Welly airport, funny-as.

Wouldn't the video be inadmissible for any disciplinary hearing tho, given that he was filmed without his knowledge?

I'd hate for the guy to get hauled over the coals for an act of kindness
