Gidday from me (linuxrunner)

Heya all, Jus thought i'd better say Gidday as I have just registered onto this site. A little bit of background on me if ya want...I am 37(ouch how the years go by).I have 3 sprogs through my ex(henceforth referred to as the mad cow). I am married to a beautiful wife (well I better say that jus in case the missus reads this).Incidently one of the members on this site was a groomsman, Quentin aka Ghost Bullet.

I have a bit of a history with motorcycles begining back in 1986 or was it 87? when I got my first set of wheels....a Kawasaki Z200...I loved that bike it was so good...and it once had 6 passengers on it all totally pissed coming back from ruapuna speedway....

I have also had a couple of GN250s (yuck but they are good commuter bikes) ...1981 Yamaha XS400...1981Suzuki GS650...Honda CX400 custom (what a load of trash that was)...what else...AX100....once again a commuter...and a couple of 4wheelers for chasing MooMoos about...Well that sums up my riding....until I am 40 then we shall see(unless my beautiful wife agrees to something before my 40th) Anyways am thinking of a trumpy so would like to get the opinions of triumph riders. My only real criteria to a bike is I dont want another rice burner, and it NEEDS to have a low seat height...my wife is only 5ft tall.
Best experience riding: Blasting through dome valley (love that road)

Worst experience riding: Leaving a party with helmet on and feeling a sudden surge of stomach contents rising up my throat real quick and finally exiting through my mouth into a fully enclosed helmet!

(never used the helmet after that...

It sounds like you know the dodgy rabble already

So you need a bike that both you & your wife can ride? or is she hopping on the back?
Most bikes are comfy for the hobbits to sit on the back leg wise, (this hobbit has been there) except usually for cruisers that have the pegs forward a fair way- makes hanging on with your feet hard.
Look around try out a few bikes for size & comfort -V11sport is low seat height. -Guzzi of course- hasn't GB talked you into one yet.

I'm not a triumph rider, but I rode one of the 'new' Bonnevilles and thought it was heaps of fun. A bit slow, and the brakes were nothing special. But it sure made me smile.

Welcome aboard! You're not referring to the Dome Valley up here, are you?

Best time I did Warkworth to Wellsford was a tick over 8min on the T500 back in '76.

Sounds like the Trumpy for you would be the T100, or maybe the Scrambler. Big Dave loves them.

dont listen to the japa riders, there are a whole heapa good non riceburners out there. Skirstergal (chch local) has just bought herself a Trumpy to go with the HD, she'd be able to give you an idea of what they are like.

Them Buells sure have a good thing going....if it wasnt for the missus thats what I would go for....either that or put her in a rack and stretch her a bit (dont tell her I said that!)

Thats the road yep...I spent a few years up that way (an auckland born cantab is me)....my olds live at Leigh...Incedently I blew up an old Morri 1100 on that road...comin back from Wellsford to WW....I have only done that road on the XS400...but its a damned good road once ya know all the corners...
