Want to know what Spud and Scummy and Co are doing - read this

    Road policing programme 2007/2008

    http://police.govt.nz/resources/2007...-2007-2008.pdf

Its about 2.5 meg if you want to wait for it to download.

I went to a reasonably informative talk put on today by a fellah from Police National HQ and this was mentioned.

So how about we direct our anger at where it belongs. That is the Government for setting the objectives that bring such plans into being.

The front line guys like ScumDog, Spudchucker, Patrick, etc. are just doing the job that the bosses dictate. In most cases the front line cops are fair and reasonable, but like in any job there will be a few who take it to extremes. I know I couldn't do the work that any of the cops on here do without killing someone, yet these guys deal with the lowest of the low every day. Then they come on here and have to defend themselves against people like us. They don't have to put up with the shit we give them, yet they do so and still remain generally good natured.

These guys also have to work the plan that is impressed on them, whether they like it or not. So as far as I'm concerned its to the cops on this site.

Don't get me wrong this thread was nothing about knocking our guys (I'd say they are all great blokes) I actually found this stuff quite informative because it actually explains with numbers why the programme is what it is. Having never heard mention of it before I thought a few more KBers might be interested, just it takes a bit of digesting being so long and all.

Very interesting indeed. I see that exceeding 110kmh was only responsible for 3.5% of fatal accidents. I also note that all the per capita fatality stats that boast better figures than our own originate from countries that have higher speed limits (none at all in some instances) and better trained drivers.

I also note that absolutely nothing is being done to enhance cyclist safety over the years.

Same old govt tune being played I believe. If they really wanted to do something about the road toll they'd revamp the driving test and raise the minimum age for drivers (car), and ban cell phones etc.
Superdukes. Serving up shame to sportsbikes since ages ago.
