Smile Hello from a UK newbie! (Nicola W)

    Hello people!

Just found this forum and thought I'd say hello!

I'm in the UK at the moment but hope to be emmigrating to NZ soon.

My husband rides a CR250, my eldest son rides a KX65 and my youngest son rides a KTM50. I try to ride my minibike when I'm not behind my camera.

We are HUGE MX fans and are willing Josh on as we are HUGE fans of his. (And Ben's)

The photo is of my two sons.

Look forward to chatting with any fellow dirt-bikers.

    Nicola

    Thank you Nasty

Is this forum more road bikes than off road? I'm hoping to find out a lot more about MX over there as it's all we know over here.... It's our life!

    Hi Nicola...

Welcome to the funny farm! Many Poms on here (me included). Arrived in 2004 and resisted the return trip so far.

Soon to emigrate? Then check out this site if you haven't already.

    Thanks Richard

We've been wanting to move over for about 2 years now... and now things are moving quickly. I've been lurking in pure-kiwi forum for a while now - I really need to join up but thought I'd join one about our passion first - MX

Howdya know she's a Pom? There's more than one country in blighty - she could be a Jock or a Taff. :

Welcome to KB - there is a big MX following here but it is dwindling as the wealthy land owners close track after track...you should come and join a protest.

    Hello and thank you Chickadee!

Originally from London but moved to Suffolk 7 years ago after my first son was born. I had my second son 6 years ago and now we're wanting a better life for them both and New Zealand is the place we want to be.

We’re almost there. Just need to tie up some loose ends and find a job for husband (Carpenter and Bricklayer) We’ll probably end up the in the North Island - not sure yet, although everywhere looks so beautiful.

And McJim - Glad to hear the MX scene is big there! It’s all we ever know here in the UK. We’d happily join a protest to keep it going. However, if things work out - we’d like to have our own MX track when we move over there! Most riders who get anywhere in MX have use of their own practise tracks and I’ve got two little budding Josh Coppins as my two sons.

Ideally, my husband and I would love to open up and run a huge MX track with all the facilities. Just looking at land.......

I hope you're not going to try and get your husband a job before you land here. I found kiwis don't work like that.

Land prices will vary based on distance from a Major City and Local land use (Arable, Dairy, Sheep etc.).

And if you have your own MX track be aware that kiwis are great complainers. e.g. Loads of people bought houses next to the speedway track in Auckland. Speedway has been there for Decades. Now it's been shut down due to complaints about noise.

Oh, and the weather here is fantastic but just wait until you hear the kiwis complaining about it! And then they have the cheek to use the phrase 'Whinging Pom' with a straight face. I tell you it's laff a minute over here. You'll love it.

I used to live in London since 1999 then we moved to Hertfordshire for the birth of our first son (Chickadee is my missus - she's a kiwi).

Moving to South Island shortly. We moved to New Zealand for a change of lifestyle. Didn't get a change - I have to work more hours for less money, house prices are the about the same, interest rates are double and the commute to work takes the same amount of time as it did in London. So I gained nothing by moving here and am heading to rural NZ to see if I can make that work out for us.

If that fails I'm going home to Scotland - which would give me the chance to head butt a few terrorists apparently!

    Best of luck!

    Hiya
I am a pom living in Palmerston North and have finally got the bike to the exporter in slough and it sails on Friday, hurray.

I lived in Invercargill and now in Palmie which are apparently the worst places to be in NZ, and I am having a great time. I am not a city chick, living near London was enough to cure me.

I would highly recommend it here and having just been to Airlie Beach the Whistsundays in Auz are pretty fantastic and good places for kids too.

    welcome

'Pom' or 'pommy' does not necessarily refer to just the English, it also refers to the British as a nation.
