What the hang's up with me clutch?

Well last week while riding my RF400, I went to grab some clutch to change gear and there was nothing there. I pulled over to the side of the road to check things out. I found that the sproket cover that also houses where the clutch cable enters the gearbox had come lose. So last night I tightened the bolts that hold the cover to the gearbox case. How ever for some strange reason now theres not clutch grab untill the lever is almost right out.

Ive tried to adjust things but still have no luck, I dont think the clutch is worn out because its been working 100% well for the last 6 + months and its never shown any sign of giving out!

Any help would be awesome!

Sounds like you already did this but did you try shortening the cable by adjusting it at the clutch lever on the handle bars?

Ive already tried this.....I will have to take that cover off tomorrow I think. Maybe it needs adjustment there...who knows!
