Japanese biker fails to notice missing leg

TOKYO - A Japanese biker failed to notice his leg had been severed below the knee when he hit a safety barrier, and rode on for 2km, leaving a friend to pick up the missing limb.

The 54-year-old office worker was out on his motorcycle with a group of friends in the city of Hamamatsu, west of Tokyo, on Monday, when he was unable to negotiate a curve in the road and bumped into the central barrier, the Mainichi Shimbun said.

He felt excruciating pain, but did not notice that his right leg was missing until he stopped at the next junction, the paper quoted local police as saying.

The man and his leg were taken to hospital, but the limb had been crushed in the collision, the paper said.

Wow - the power of adrenaline!

A previous partner severed three and a half fingers of his right hand in a timber mill accident and only noticed when he went to pick up the spanner he'd dropped at the same time. The pain delay was a minute or so, he said, when he actually saw it!!

Would that be an expectable excuse to drop ya bike while stationary? A missing leg?
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded

and thats why if someone hits you ALWAYS say your hurt and have it documented by the po-po. When I got hit the guy asked if I was ok and I nearly gave the polite kiwi "yeah fine mate" until I actually thought about it and my whole body hurt!
I'm selling my new riding gear!! Only worn a few times get a deal Kiwibikers!!

Imagine the trail of blood he would have left down the road! The following bikers would have to avoid the blood slick!

And he must have been moving fairly fast - his friend stopped to pick up his leg but didn't catch up with him again until he stopped! Good grief, what a bizarre story.

Presumably he didn't use his rear brake as he was stopping...

I must be a biker now - I knew it was his right leg, how would he change gears otherwise? Be a bit embarrassing pulling up to the lights though.

They must make them really tough and hard over there, wouldn't want to mess with one of 'em. I expect I'd be crying my eyes out if this happened to me.

Hope he is ok, shame they couldn't stitch it back on.

That would be a real cool story to tell in the pub someday...

Probably getting his mind around the wording of his letter of complaint to the manufacturer of the bike!

"foot brake ineffective" warranty conditions apply, please remedy asap! (lol) John.
