I feel a hell of lot safer on those roads than, say, SH22 or the northern part of the Coro Loop. But you just ride for the conditions. All that a shitty piece of road means is that you can't push it peg-scrapingly-mental, you just ride it at a more `scenic' pace.

Any piece of road can be fatal. I'm sure I could kill myself on any road in Auckland. I don't remember excessive stonage, a little bit of moss and slippery stuff in the dark parts.

No, it's not padded with foam and bubble wrap, but I don't think any newbie is going to be tearing through there at ludicrous speeds anyway.

You're a negative shit as of late, aren't you?

Well it is dangerous indeed but on some part which they have new pavements are not

    UPDATE:
Today I went all the way on the Scenic Drive then to Albany via Coatesville/ Riverhead. OMG! It was beautiful! I was following this Ducati 999s for fun ofcourse he was going slow at the start, later he blow me lmao

If he is reading this: I had no intention of challenging you! I just wanted to see the bike better at close distance btw, MAN! It was a lovely bike! DAMN IT! you are making me jealouse! lol

Then I met a Yamaha XT660 at Albany (How would I know their name? lol)
Had a bit of chat on the "Give way" sign. It was cool lol

It was cool to see all those riders nodding or giving a handwave when passing by
    Ofcourse I waved them back

Today again I thought WOW! It is great to be in the Motorcycling world!
    Who agrees? lol

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

Heya EJ, Thought I saw you riding around locally, not quite sure. I drive a crappy bomb car so you wouldn't notice me anyways, hope your having fun though, aswell as keeping your eyes pealed and staying safe.

xerxesdaphat I don't mean to be negative, I'm just concerned about that corner where I almost had a bad experience and offering my view that it's not the safest place for an organised bike ride, I suppose if that's negative then so be it?

Sorry dude, it just seemed like a while ago you were `yayayaya biking wo0o0o0 *grin*' and now you are `that's shit, that's dangerous, foo, bar.' Motorcycle withdrawal symptoms? Time to get a new bike

Next time I'm going up to Albany I'll take that route. Who cares if it's twice as long!

    Yeah go ahead man!
In my opinion, Since the speed limit is 70kph, it's OK to practice "Counter Steer", "Big lean" or even "knee down" lol

I'll be back with a modified attitude which may involve reduced motorcycle riding. But I'll be just as ruthless as ever out in the country I guess

That means no inner city 2 wheeled commuting.

Healing up pretty well, getting there, etc. Can't wait to get back.

I think injury is a very sobering experience, time will tell though

I did this ride yesterday. Lovely ride until you hit the gravel then it all goes a bit hairy. I should have turned around but i would have kicked myself if i'd missed anything awesome at whatipu (i've never been there). It was a mint ride though, a bit wet, a bit dry, all hot though. Great little ride.

was that you stopped by the shops at the huia rd - woodlands park rd intersection?

I was experimenting with a helmet camera, went past and then turned around and went back up huia road, stopped again and you (I'm guessing?) stopped behind me for a bit.

Ahh, yep that was me. Forgot the ear plugs when i left the shop and had to stop to put them in, that exhaust is stupidly loud. I wondered what you were up to, how's the cam?

crappy. it's one of those cmos spy cams off trademe. I think I'll stick to the CCD security bullet camera mounted to the frame rather than a helmet cam. I think for a helmet cam to be any good it needs to be wider angle than the standard security cameras.

Yeah, some of those security cams are a bit lacking in quality. I'd be keen to see the outcome of the film work.

I don't really want to post the stuff from sunday, the quality is too poor and it's nothing special.

I did post a thread with links to footage taken with the bullet cam at a trackday I did recently, it's here:
